Swanson Hydrochloric Acid w/Pepsin 250 Capsules

This really works wonders. I took it daily for a few months, started with 1 then and it didn't do anything so I went on to 3 I believe then brought it down to 2 and then to 1. I have not taken the pills now in months and the heartburn was completely gone for months. It seems it's slowly coming back but not to the point where I have to take the pills again. I don't take the Omeprazole which has terrible side effects and I gave this a try when I read an article that states new studies have found heartburn is due to lack of acid in your stomach as opposed to what the Dr's tell you that it's excess acid and the article referenced hydrochloric acid and of course I bought it to give it a try and low and behold that was the solution. SO VERY thankful for this item. Highly recommend. I have heaving heartburn day and night and it was terrible. Now I have no issues.

Take in middle of high fat meal, leads to better digestion

This works great for fixing an upset stomach. Many naturopathic professionals say that heartburn or 'acid reflux', is caused by too little stomach acid, and taking antacids only make things worse. If you have heartburn, and take Hydrochloric Acid and your stomach feels better, then that is your problem, NOT too much acid. There is a way I was told by my doctor to do it to see: Start with taking one capsule after a meal, if no change then next time take two capsules after a meal. Increase each meal up to a maximum of five capsules. If at any point along the way your stomach feels more acidic, then you know you should take one less number of capsules for relieve of your heartburn after meals. I found one capsule is enough, my husband takes two capsules for relief. He doesn't take antacids anymore. Another thing that works real well if you need a quick stomach settling is to use Papaya Enzymes. The extra strength is fast acting.

I like that the dosage was only 300 mg and also that it didn't have pepsin. I have silent reflux and the pepsin was triggering my acid reflux.

I had been on the Keto diet for 4 months and lost 40 pounds. Unfortunately, I also lost a big patch of hair. My dermatologist said that can happen after a very rapid weight loss. I've heard Swanson makes quality supplements, reason why I decided to try. Now this is totally my fault for not reading, but the dose is half of the standard Betaine Hcl dose. Almost all other brands have 650mg, which is pretty standard and recommended, Swanson contains 325mg. I have very low stomach acid and need to take two 650mg pills with each meal. totaling four now with Swanson. Not a huge deal, but for the price I probably won't be buying again when I can get the standard dose for a similar price.

Swanson is the only company that I know that sells this product and I’m so glad that I found it. I had stomach upset day after day and I was downing Tums and Pepsid constantly. I read that often, as people age, they don’t have enough stomach acid it properly digest their food, which is why I decided to try this supplement. After taking it for a while I didn’t have stomach aches any more, but I kept taking it. Finally, I ran out and I still felt great. I don’t know how long i needed to take it because I just kept it up for months. This is well over a couple of years later and I’m experiencing slight stomach discomfort, so I’m trying it again.
