Works great
These are great, they weren't too difficult to figure out how to put on.The button snap is the only negative, they're the kind that work great until they break all at once with no warning. Luckily the design is done well enough that you could just use a string or whatever you have to loop around. The price is great, and they save my feet from heavy steel sheets falling. They work great for welding, grinder sparks; my boot laces seem to be holding up very well with these on.If you don't want to spend big money on metatarsal boots or just need a specific kind of boot to wear, then these are a great option.

Not a bad way to add some additional protection to ordinary workboots.
First of all, there is no substitute for actual met-guard boots. They're properly designed and tested, so if you work in an environment which requires ANSI-rated met-guard boots, this isn't the way to do this.I work in a facility that requires electrical rating in our boots, and the overlap between electrical and met-guard is pretty thin, so I was looking for a way to add some extra protection to the boots I have to wear. They fit a little loose. The main technique for attaching them is to run the laces through a set of holes in the lower piece, and then close the strap on the upper piece around another pair of laces further up. I hated dealing with them on my 6" boots, because I had to snap and unsnap the top piece every time I took my boots on and off, but my 8" boots are tall enough that I can leave them permanently "set up." They still clack around a little, and occasionally get caught on things, but they seem to be doing their job of keeping slag from damaging the uppers and laces of the boots, and have helped keep heavy objects from hitting the tops of my feet, after I nearly broke my foot when a piece of 6" bar stock caught me behind the steel toe.

these just work
great, once I got them onto my boots the way I wanted them and secured them to stay in place they protect the top of my feet while felling trees and in the wood pile while bucking up logs for splitter processing, I have never tripped or getting any brush caught up in them so far, as I gotten only 20 hours in the field using them

The straps will break and it's hard to get replacements
The guards themselves are fantastic. I work with steel pipe all day and 2.5 years after buying them they are still going strong and have protected me, through several pairs of boots. The downside are the straps. Seems about every 6 months one of the straps that goes on the underside snaps. This is typically when they separate/flip up at the hinge when they are flexing and nothing is holding the lower section in place. This wouldn't really be a problem except getting replacement straps is a nightmare. They are almost permanently "sold out." I feel like it's just a ploy by the company to force you into buying a complete pair that costs almost 3x as much as just buying the replacement straps when they are actually selling them.

Over priced low quality
I bought these for my husband because his work safety shoe policy changed at his job. He needed a metarsal guard. We opened the box that we received to find the hinge piece was already cracked on one of them. I am not returning these because he needs them right now. These are very poor quality for the price i paid for them.

This is how you do it!
Love this project but had a hard time finding the right way to affix it to my boots. But here it is! I hope this helps people.
