Much Better Than Expected!
I was really impressed when this showed up! It is much more substantial than I expected and does a great job!I used this in Florida on some days when every umbrella in sight was going airborne, and this held a 9' umbrella completely steady. The handles are large and comfortable, so it's easy to get good leverage to put this in the sand. The auger is large and thick, so no worries about it breaking or not holding, this thing is rugged. We used it with a pretty big umbrella, and as stated, it worked flawlessly. The tension screw is also large and durable making it easy to get a good hold to really tighten it up and it holds like crazy.Bottom line is this holder exceeded my expectations, a lot, and I would definitely buy again!

Did the trick on a pretty windy day
We just got home from the shore where the effects of the tropical storm were starting to be felt. The sand anchor kept our light -weight beach umbrella upright and in the sand. We took down the umbrella only when we felt the umbrella ribs were going to break! One can really feel the anchor grabbing into the wet sand and be assured that your umbrella is going nowhere, at least not on an average day. You will get a little upper body workout screwing it in the sand, but you want to look buff at the beach, right?

I put this anchor to the test last weekend on a windy day at the beach. It dug into the sand nicely, but it admittedly took a little elbow grease and that's because it was grabbing a serious hold of the sand. The more elbow grease, the better the hold. I've only used it that once, but it seems well-made and sturdy so I hope it holds up.

Takes like 3-5 minutes of turning with lots of downward pressure ...
The end is so blunt it is very difficult to screw it into sand - especially if the sand is packed. Takes like 3-5 minutes of turning with lots of downward pressure to get it deep enough for an umbrella.

May work in super soft sand but did not work in compacted sand ...
Bought this to take to a lakeside beach. It did not work very well. The sand was on the hard side and only about 12 inches deep. May work in super soft sand but did not work in compacted sand at all.

This thing worked great. The wind was blowing all week and the umbrella held it ground in the anchor like it was supposed to.

Good, but why the big hole that lets sand in?
These work just fine. I do have to wonder, why is there a big hole in the tube down near the screw threads? It lets in a lot of sand and you have to clean out the inside. Can't for the life of me see why that would be there.

Works great!
Worked very well for us at the beach a few weeks ago. Nice and sturdy. More heavy duty than our other sand anchor. Seems like it will last a long time. Pleased.
