The Excellent Wife: A Biblical Perspective - Study Guide

This is the best book on marriage and is a good reference book as well. It is very balanced Biblically. I would recommend it for women getting ready to get married to read, and for those who are married, to read through this book once a year as a reminder of our Biblical responsibilities as women.

This is such a wonderful book with a great godly perspective! Helping women be better wives to their husbands and showing them what husbands should be doing in their relationship.

It’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea but if your desire as a wife is to follow the Lord and submit to your husband, it’s exactly what you need in your toolkit. The author gives excellent examples to help you. She herself was a straight up feminist who was ambitious, craved to climb the ladder, and was preparing to leave her family to make that happen. She managed to find her way back to her family and The Lord and is sharing her learnings (and the learnings of others) along the way.

This is an excellent book! However it is VERY difficult! If I wasn’t supported by some fantastic mentors, after the first few chapters, I would have put this down and said “this is impossible.” It honestly has helped me in my already good relationship with my husband and parts can certainly apply to any relationship you have. I am still a work in progress, daily trying to take baby steps towards being a God honoring wife. The study guide really helped with getting more out of the book.

The Excellent Wife by Martha Peace has been an absolute eye opener for me! This book takes a hard look at Scripture and then tells it like it is. No fluff, no sugar coating, no ridiculous apologizing for God's Word- just the Truth from His Word laid out for wives that will hear it and take it to heart. I bought this and the study guide of the same name and have been constantly convicted of where I am not following the Lord's calling on my life. I greatly appreciated the straight forward approach and the humility it's written with- recognizing and owning her own failures to give the grace God has given her but using them as teachable moments for the reader. I would like to see an integrated book and study guide with the appendices in the appropriate places through the book if I had an opinion to give.

I just started reading the book and purchased the study guide. I want to be the wife that God wants me to be. I think I’m a good wife but already see in a couple dozen pages there is so much more God has planned for me as a wife. I start a Bible study w a group of ladies in a couple weeks for this book and am going to embrace what scripture says see what changes God makes in me.

This was great!! Great reminders and tips for us wives. The “homework” was a little lengthy, but I’ve referred back to it at times!

This is a Bible honoring book to help a lady be a God fearing woman and a content submissive wife. Following the biblical principles will cause a wife to be satisfied and fulfilled in her role as being her husband's help meet.
