it has been 5 years since hive 8 came out andd it says there will be another book... however it is a great series

I bought this for my 11 year old son who is into fun and action packed books and this series is one of his favorites. It keeps him engaged and excited about reading. I definitely recommend this book.

I loved this book just like all the others. But what this had what the others didn't was a new darker element. In the previous books there was always a little humor and lightness to it but now there is a dark cloud over everything. There was also a lot more action and a lot more character development on Raven which is nice. Also a lot of comedy and humor which had me cracking up and my brothers wondering what was going on. In the end, I recommend this book 1,000,000% and I know you will enjoy it too.

This book was awesome. It really showed a lot about Raven's past, which was something that I really enjoyed reading. The cliffhanger ending leaves me thinking about time travel to about a year in the future, though. I hope that the H.I.V.E. series continues for many, many more books to come.

This book was also absolutely amazing. I'd been looking forward for this book for quite a few months and I've not been let down with Aftershock. I really enjoyed the background story of Raven. But unfortunately it's another whole year until Deadlock. Yet I'm looking forward to it.

It is a pleasure to be able to buy these books, which aren't published yet in the U.S. This series is among the all time favorites for my 4th and 6th grade boys - can't believe they aren't publishing faster in the U.S. Please keep writing, Mr. Walden, we love your work!

this book definitely deserves five stars.the suspense is endless.my only problems were that 1:the end was to sentimental 2:they don't tell you what happened to Anastasia furan.but that just makes me want to get deadlock.so again thanks to mark,don't stop writing.

I think the HIVE stories should have stopped with the destruction of Overlord (Zero Hour) because it is difficult to sustain the same pace of story telling now that the psychotic AI is no more. In all fairness, it was a good entertaining read but I was a bit disappointed. There were flashbacks into Raven's mysterious past that I felt were just there to make up the number of pages. They did not add to the story (except the last one). Raven did not even feel like the ''world deadliest assassin''. I also felt a bit let down by the 'hunt'plot. I expected something more spectacular (in the way of HIVE)- this was too easy. The success of all past HIVE is due to the outrageous plots and the cheekiness of the Alpha team best students (Otto, Wing, Laura, Shelby) flanked by the blundering Franz and his sidekick Nigel and Raven doing her ninja stuff. This book was too tamed, a bit bland by comparison. It may also be so because I have read all the HIVE books in one go, whereas someone who had not would not find it repetitive. Having said that, I am a fan of HIVE and I have this feeling that After Shock is only the preliminary for something more substantial, more "HIVE". So, I will wait eagerly for the next instalment because I hope more questions will be answered (ie. I'd love to how Nero met and rescued Natalya as I know now she was sent to kill him.). After all, didn't we get a glimpse of Hive mind back in Otto's head? Now, this is more like it..I just hope I do not have to wait too long...

I purchased this book among with others in the series for my grandsons when they come to visit, as the classic 'Disney stories' are now far too young a read for them. I think they appreciated having something more of their own age to read at bedtime, and are the sort of books they read from their school libraries. So yes, I think they were a good buy.

This is gripping from start to finish an exelant read for teens to adults. Telling the story of Raven from being a child up to present day with flashbacks on how she was trained to become the worlds number one assassin.

these books get better and better - a gripping and brilliant read for adults and kids alike, perfect bedtime reading if you read out loud to your 8/9 YO at night, really exciting stories to share. I have the new one due in 2013 already on pre order and we are counting down to release day.
