A European silver crown coin from the 1800's, a century when Europe reigned supreme over the rest of the world. These large, heavy, high-purity silver coins were produced by virtually every European country during the 19th century. Their standardized size and silver content (each contains 3/4th of an ounce of silver) meant that they could be easily exchanged between nations. In 19th century America, the silver dollar coin served as the equivalent.
