Nice as long as you don't care about noise or cable management
This appears to be a well made power supply and if you read the in depth reviews on it, electrically speaking it tests out really well. It also claims to have intelligent fan control with two modes: performance and silent. Unfortunately mine only seemed to run in Performance mode. It was louder than all of my case fans plus the CPU fan (even if I turned them on full speed). I didn't have anything overclocked and the temp in my case was cool so there was no reason for the fan on this power supply to be running full tilt. I wouldn't doubt it was defective but I didn't feel like exchanging it only to find out that a new one did the same. Also, don't buy this if you're planning on doing any really nice cable management in your case. You definitely want a modular PSU for that. The cables on this thing are really nicely sheathed and are also very long. I also would be leary of NZXT's support. I opened a case about the noise and they never contacted me back. By the time I was able to chat with somebody online to complain about the fact that they had never contacted me, I was fed up enough to return it to Amazon. Amazon of course was awesome as they always are with returns. FYI - I replaced this with a Corsair Professional Series HX 750 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Gold (HX750), which I am 100% satisfied with.

Quality
I bought the 550W when it was on sale. It was a pleasant surprise to see what I got for the money. This power supply is solid. The cables are a good length, the fan is quiet (and has 2 speeds for extra cooling when needed). It's very heavy. (i'm not sure if that's good or not, but I've noticed cheap power supplies being light)It was nice to see on front of the box that it comes with a 5 year warranty and that they pay for two way shipping! There's a lot of warranties out now that make *you* pay for the shipping to them.Overall, I am very satisfied with the Hale82 N. Get one when they are on sale and you can't go wrong.

Great quality
The 5V cable is way too short for my NZXT Phantom 410 case, the sleeving is very okIf you have the money, go for the modular one, I would be happier with that one.

550W Power supply
It installed with no problems and the power supply cords were long enough to reach all the components in the computer.

I recommend
So far I have been using NZXT power supplies in the PC's I build, and no complaints. They are reliable, good quality, good enough price. None have failed me yet. They rival the best of them :)

Excellent Quality, Solid Voltage, Below-Average Acoustic Performance
In general this PSU delivers average features and below-average acoustic performance at an expected price. The supplied power is ample for most higher-end GPU/CPU combos but there are a number of areas where this PSU falls short. First, the fan is a bit noisy and for builds where the fan is on top of the case, this will produce noticeable sound. Second, the PSU fan runs at all times - it doesn't modulate based on power demands or heat. For the MSRP of this PSU, I'd expect a variable speed fan. I personally prefer the superior acoustic performance of the PC Power and Cooling Silencer Mk II 750W High Performance 80PLUS Silver SLI CrossFire ready Power Supply compatible with Intel Sandy Bridge Core i3 i5 i7 and AMD Phenom over the NZXT Hale82N. Also, the Silencer Mk II's fan hardly ever operates, even when running NVIDIA's "A New Dawn" at maximum resolution.Product Strengths:- Lots of power connector options- The kit includes black screws to attach the PSU to case (adds a nice touch)- Price is competitive- The power connectors are all very high quality and easy to plug/un-plug- All cables are sufficiently long to reach any case/MoBo comboProduct Weaknesses:- Fan is noisy- White fan blades look cheap when installed in a modern black case- There are far too many power connectors. Even after installing a HDD, SSD, two DVD SATA drives, three fans, and a GeForce GTX 690, I still had 17 unused power connectors remaining. It's fairly difficult to tuck all of these connections away!- The PSU is slightly smaller than most higher-end PSU and the fan port won't likely align perfectly with a high-end case.- The power switch on the back of the PSU is a cheap-old rocker. Newer PSUs include a larger rocker that toggles more smoothly. Again, this is a minor nit, and for the price, is appropriate for this PSU.Tips for using:- Do not purchase this PSU if you are looking for high acoustic performance. Consider the Silencer Mk II instead.Would I recommend?Yes, for the price, this is a good PSU for a budget PC.Star Rating Rational:+1 star for price, +1 for high number of quality power connectors, +1 star for high quality build and fit/finish, +1 star for good voltages, +0 stars for acoustic performanceAbout the system build used to test this device:- GeForce GTX 690- Intel i7- 2x8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)- ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 motherboard- Crucial 128 GB SSD (Windows 8 64 bit)- 3TB WD Black 7200 RPM HDD
