OXO Good Grips 5kg Stainless Steel Food Scale

Purchased these to replace an ageing set of cheap glass scales. Arrived promptly and was surprised by how large and weighted they are, certainly feel like a quality piece of equipment. They have a large surface area to accomodate most sized bowls, a nice bright display and have the added bonus of being able to extend the display out away from the scale when large containers are being weighed. Really good quality and very well calibrated, I'd say they are probably as good as domestic scales you can buy before getting into professional bakers scales. Well worth the purchase, slightly pricier than the average kitchen scale but justified so.

At last! The perfect scales! Worth every penny. Clear, large display, simple to use, don't have any bad habits like resetting themselves to zero all the time. Best of all - you can pull the display unit out so it's not hidden by the bowl - genius. I have had so many sets of scales and they're usually so badly designed you wonder if anyone tested them. The last but one set I had included a permanent clock display which you couldn't turn off and which drained the battery, and the last one had a 'tare' function that reset them to zero whenever your hand came within 6 inches - as well as having a display that was invisible once a bowl was on the scale. I've always found Oxo Good Grips to be reliable and this is a well designed product that looks nice, too. I just wish I could get back all the money from the £20 sets of scales I've bought in Sainsbury's, Argos and so on.

Fantastic scales that look good enough to leave out on the side, and feel really solid. Quick, responsive and accurate (in my experience) and the battery life is good. Nice that the display can be pulled out if you're weighing something that would otherwise cover the display. Super easy to clean with a damp cloth. Can't complain really.

Best set of scales ever! Worth the high price, considering how often I use them. I like to weigh my portions of food and also my dogs food, several times every day. Large, clear display which can be pulled forward to accommodate any size of bowl. Only negative is it uses x3 AAA batteries, though they seem to last a fair while, so still given 5 *****

scales seem good but when they arrived I put the batteries supplied in and they were warning they were flat so will need to buy a new set straight away.

bought as a replacement for a cheaper ikea scale, performs far better and felt it was worth the money, easy to use.

The balance looks the part, it's stylish and a much improvement on my previous kitchen balance. This one registers even the minute additions and subtractions. The pull out feature of the display is useful when using a large bowl to measure your ingredients in. Working with expensive balances in my job, I was interested in the accuracy of this balance. The attached photo shows what the balance displayed against a certified applied weight. Other than not registering 1g, for a cheap balance it's very accurate even at the higher range. Even at the maximum range that I tested it out on, being 9g out on 4000g is insignificant as a %, and if this is important to you, you'll probably be paying hundreds if not a thousand plus, for an analytical balance. As a comparison my old balance was out by about 50g at the higher range. So for the price, and for cooking, you'll probably find this balance fit for purpose.
