Samlex 300W Inverter 24VDC to 120V AC
Gate automation all on dedicated solar no AC power. Orignially planned for a cellular call box for the entrance gate. The house is about 1000 ft from the main entrance gate. However, the owner decided they did not want to incur monthly charges for a cellular service. Instead we opted install a 1812 access plus entry system. However, to power up the access plus it comes with its own transformer 120v input with the secondary 16.5 VAC. The whole system already has a solar power for the two gate operator. Another solar panel dedicated to the cellular call box. I needed an inventer to provide me with a 120VAC. The first Samlex 300W inverter did not work no 120 output even though i reset the GFCI using my volt meter still no 120VAC. Amazon was able to sent a replacement and this worked for me. I hook up the Samlex 300W 24VDC input/ 120VAC outpu inverter to a SamLex solar charger 12/24 to power up the inventer. Plug in the transformer the off white unit plug on top of the inverter. The transformer is 120VAC input the secondary output is 16.5VAC that powers up the1812 Access Plus. Measured the 1812 terminal and getting well above the 16.5 VAC. The transformer output showing on my VOM is 18.3 VAC. If you look closely you will see a blue hue light which means I have power to my unit. This is th first for us to use a complete dedicated Solar system to power up our gate automation system. This is great for those gates that are way too far from the main house. This is by far the farthest gate installation 1000 feet from the main house. Since this box requires only the Tip and Ring not pushing any data a CAT 6 direct burial is sufficient enought for this purpose. However, our 1812 is capable for internet to push data but it will require POE extender and daisy chain it. Since we were able to prove using a solar to provide us AC power using an inverter will require how much watts will be needing if we use 3 or 4 POE extender. As you can see we are using the Samlex solar charger and I decided to use the same brand for my inverter.

Great so far...
This works great. I only wish it had a USB port as well. I've used it nearly every day for the last 9 months for an hour or two each do with no problems. It is powered via my solar panel/DC system.

eliminates buzzing in headphones
I wanted a pure sine inverter to eliminate a buzzing in my headphones caused by my old inverter. These work perfectly. The fan cycles on and off every few minutes while I'm using my laptop but it's pretty quiet and I hardly notice it.I can't rate the durability because I've been using it less than a week.

Everything great but the fan
I love Samlex inverters and my only gripe with this one is that the fan kicks on regularly, even under very light or no load. Since it is mounted in my family room near the TV that is annoying. Other than that great product!
