Moshe Feldenkrais Was Ahead of His Time
I'm rereading the book (published in 1949) and, second time around, this gem stood out: "Our knowledge of what is biologically important is so scanty that we worship ideas which merely sound good. For instance, we now worship an idea of extraversion with the result that even intelligent people come to think that a normal man is the one who is active, driving, enterprising all his waking life. The result is a cult of exteriorization producing a new type of neurotics, ruining their children's lives and wasting away their own." His is a critical look at our culture, written decades before the pace of life has accelerated to an unhealthy degree.

The Feldenkrais philosophy
The core book to read if you want to know Feldenkrais. An inspirational informative and insightful book that details his ideas and discoveries about how our body and mind experience life on the planet. Gravity, society and family are the background to his razor sharp analysis of how the organism “we” adapt somaticaly and psychologically to life.

Integrity of bodymind
Feldenkrais saw the 'bodymind' before the term 'holistic' was coined. Written before most of the world's population was born, this book provides perspective and information which still has much to teach to the segmented medical/rehabilitation/healthcare providers of today. Reading it has added depth to my 20+ years experience working with muscle pain. Wish I had read it when I started or very shortly after.

Foundational to understanding The Feldenkrais Method
This is a marvelous guide to the thinking behind the Feldenkrais Method. I began to understand the process that led Dr. Feldenkrais to develop his methodology after reading it.

Love it
Every personal trainer should have to study Moshe. There should not be a choice. There is too much information that trainers do not understand and they can learn so much by studying these principles. If you want to seperate yourself from all other trainers read Moshe.

INTERESTING Read.
Recommended by massage therapist. Definitely a good read. Haven't completely read through, just parts that apply or interest me. But an excellent book to read for understanding behavior from at a deeper level. Highly recommend.

Book Review
I didn't care for this book. It was a book club selection for a Spirituality and Religions book club and I thought it was a poor choice.

Three Stars
Moshe Feldenkrais has a writing style not for the layman. He expresses his thoughts in a circular fashion.

making them more fun and more effective
The book's title under-sells it, maybe in a mark of its age. Written in 1949, the book offers remarkable insights into the interplay between mind and body, how when one part is unwell, the others are affected as well.. It's written in an attractive, accessible style which is easier to understand if one is mindful of attitudes and mores of the time. It's as though Feldenkrais, in 1949, set out to provide scientific rationale for the meditation and mindfulness techniques so popular today. In my stroke recovery, this book has helped me understand several mysteries underlying the exercises the physios gave me, making them more fun and more effective.

Helpful insights for the Feldenkrais students and enthusiasts
A very good insight into how the human body functions, integrating the mind (nervous system) and the body. Although the book was written in 1he first half of the last century the author's understanding of the subject is very much current. The current knowledge has finally caught up with Feldenkrais. It is not the easiest read though. There is a lot of discussion on the understanding of the body pains and disorders of that past time. I would recommend this book to a Feldenkrais student, but not for the general public which is unaware of what Feldenkrais method is about.

GENIAL FELDENKRAIS
