Spider-Man: A timeless character.
A love letter to the Spider-Man of old. Art is phenomenal. Plotted perfectly. Read the first 2 volumes then dive in. Plenty to enjoy.

That Parker luck, eh?
“Peter Parker – The Spectacular Spider-Man – Amazing Fantasy” collects issues #301-303 of the Legacy-numbered series, along with Annual #1, which doesn’t appear to be Legacy-numbered.This volume didn’t really work for me, unlike the previous two, which were superb. This one, well, the three issues collected here, anyway, sees Peter, Teresa and Jonah drop back into the past to stop the current alien invasion of Earth.Fortunately for continuity, they go to a parallel/alternate time-line, where they have arrived a week or two early for their mission to catch the Tinkerer before he can cause the unstoppable alien invasion [crackle crackle] years in the future, so they have time to completely mess with the parallel-Earth time-line for three issues.Unfortunately, the story really needed another issue, unless the writer as being all experimentally with the story in the third one, jump-cutting about and leaving stuff in-between panels and all.I read this straight after cleaning up following my cat restaging the Mr Creosote sketch, so I might not have been in the most receptive mood to enjoy it, worrying about what had been the “wafeur” that triggered him (overdosing on a catnip mouse I finally concluded). It is still well plotted, giving the three musketeers a chance to ‘fix’ their pasts, one by taking down and/or exposing all the costumed criminals who were going to make his life a misery in the future, one by telling their younger self a secret that would get said younger self apparently killed by the usual suspect and get everyone else on that bridge a couple of years ahead of time, and one setting out to find some baby photos…Yes, maybe it was better than it felt at the time. Perhaps it was the slightly too-cartoony artwork that put me off.The Annual is the secret origin of J. Jonah Jameson, with a twist that I didn’t see coming and one that has been overlooked for over fifty years in real time. I barely even noticed the Allred artwork on this issue, the story keeping me engrossed.
