Creating a brighter future
Thanks Cedric. It is a great job. I am planning to write a similar book in Turkish. Hope we can meet and share our experiences during one of FTTH Council meetings.

PON Research focus book
In reading this book I was disappointed as it implied it would discuss in detail the PON within an FTTX network, however the contributors were all research and development folks as such no real hands-on knowledge so the book was purely focused on what maybe and most of it was a combination of research and concept papers that I had already read from the Internet. Considering the cost of the book and its application to FTTX deployments, it is not worth reading if you are wanting information for deploying today's PON technologies. Of course it is a good read to see what is happening in the future and how it will affect your migration strategy, unfortunately it does not demonstrate what manufacturers are adopting these concepts. As such, I could not recommend that anyone other than university students who are studying optical technologies to read this book (but of course those university students need to remember that is is predominately based on theory not practical application).

Excellent starting point
This book provides a very good description of the technologies, protocols and hardware related to PONs. It foucuses mainly on G-PON and E-PON providing a good level of detail about the techniques and the possible issues in such type of networks. The writing style makes this book easy to understand and, therefore, it's accessible to non-english readers.
