Great shave
First of all, let's deal with the price. It seems a lot for a shaver - admittedly not exactly a fun purchase - but when you consider how long these should last, and how much it would cost you for razor blades and soap for the equivalent span of time, it works out quite cheap. Yes, you have to buy replacement foils for an electric shaver, but Braun suggest you replace them every 18 months, so again it's not a huge expense in the grand scheme of things. Anyway, inside the box you'll find the shaver in a rigid (looks like canvas but is hard) zipped case, a 2-pin power cord (note to those who claim it's not a UK plug: ALL shavers come with a 2 pin plug, so you can charge them in a bathroom!), a small charging stand (not a cleaning station), a cleaning brush, a drawstring pouch for keeping the cable and charging stand safe on your travels, and an instruction leaflet. Before first use you need to charge the shaver for an hour according to the instructions. To charge the shaver you can either insert the power cord into the bottom of the shaver and then plug the other end into a shaver socket or a shaver adapter, or you can use the stand. The stand is a small plastic disk with a hole in the back into which you insert the cord, and a female plug in the top onto which you place the shaver. It's a dinky little thing but personally I'll just plug the cable straight in as I don't have anywhere to leave it plugged in all the time. While charging the shaver displays its power level via five blue bars which illuminate below the power button. When the shaver is charging the bars will flash and slowly increase from one to two, then three etc. and when full the lights all go out. Fully charging from empty takes about an hour. In use, the bars illuminate to show the charge level. Note that you cannot use the shaver while the cable is plugged in, so if you find that the battery is flat and need a shave, you can't use it while charging. This is because the shaver can be used wet or dry - more on that below - and it would be a tad dangerous if you could have a wet shave with it while it was plugged in. Now, this is my second Braun series 9 shaver. My first one was almost identical to this one but was a slightly earlier model which didn't come with the stand, or the drawstring bag, and the power adapter was different, but aside from that it looked the same as this. Sadly it stopped working all of a sudden recently, hence my purchase of a replacement. The battery life on that model was phenomenal. I could charge it fully before a 2-week holiday, use it twice a day each day, and when I returned it had maybe dropped by one or two bars. So how does it shave? There are four cutters on the top, so the head is very big, and a pop-up trimmer for sideburns and moustaches. It's actually very quiet while in use and is comfortable, with no snagging or pulling. My first shave with this one was of about three days growth, and it sailed through it, and afterwards my face felt very smooth - comparable with when I have a wet shave when I get my hair cut. I'm really happy with how this shaves, and cleaning is easy afterwards - I just press the two buttons on the side of the head to remove the foil cartridge, tap it into the sink, and use the brush to remove any extra bits from the foils and the shaver. The shaver can be used wet or dry, so if you want to use it in the shower, or even with foam, you can. I found with my previous series 9 that using it wet was actually great, and it shaved even closer. Obviously if you use foam it gets a bit messy, but the results are really good. You can of course clean the shaver whether you've used it wet or dry by rinsing the foils under the tap. Braun advise that if you do this, you apply a little light machine oil to the foils to keep them moving well. All in all this is a really nice shaver, and it works brilliantly. I'm absolutely delighted with it.

Better than a rotary shaver
I've been using a rotary electric shaver for years and I wish I'd moved long ago. So my review is more comparing. I was never sure if their was much different between rotary or coil, or more expensive shavers to the cheaper grades but their is. If you are looking I'd go with the coil and if the money is available get this series 9000 First time using it I didn't even feel it cutting but it was. Cuts closer and doesn't leave me with sensitive spots like the rotary shavers. No louder than rotary either. I dry shave so cleaning is very easy, just remove the coil and tap to remove hair. I shave every morning so 5 mins is all you'll need to use and clean. Would recommend for anyone looking to upgrade from a normal razer or thinking of a new electric shaver

Eight years on from a Series 7
I have a series 7 purchased 8 years ago and although some of the paint is peeling it is still going strong but decided to get away from constantly buying the expensive Clean and Renew consummables and bought this wet & dry series 9 to replace. As one would expect from a shaver at this price point it is a very good shave but you have to work at it (stretching the skin) and after 8 years thought there'd be a marked improvement on the series 7 - there isn't. It is however definitely quieter and can be used wet or dry which is a plus. It has a deeper head with an extra foil element but the extra depth doesn't always help when shaving in narrow places such as above the top lip and doesn't seem to contribute to a closer shave. Also, unlike the series 7 it does not have a built in display to tell you when the, very expensive, foil is due for replacement (18 months recommended life). The charging stand is a flawed design in that the angle needed to sit the shaver on the recharging post is very narrow indeed so trying to locate at arms length is difficult. Marketing of course would have us believe that the product just keeps getting better - it doesn't. Only buy on offer as it not worth the full recommended price. Still a decent product that can be recommended. UPDATE - Decided to return for a refund as the gains weren't sufficient compared to my still functioning 8yr old Series 7.

Great shaver, according to my Dad
Bought this for my Dad for Xmas (he is an awesome dad!) He loves it. He's had the same Braun shaver for about 20 years and his old one was finally giving up. Time for a new one. Luckily he is not disappointed. He has been raving about it. He said the charge lasted well over a week, its easy to use. Does a great shave, and in his own words, his beard is tough! He could not speak more highly of it. I think my husband will be heading this way too when his gives up.

Expensive razor.
I bought it for my husband but we don’t think it is a good shaver. It doesnt seem to get right to the skin and get a close shave. In some places like under the jaw and down the neck it doesn’t shave at all. Very expensive for a not very good razor. You’d do better with a £1 bic wet shave razor. We ran out of time to return it, mores the pity.

Braun Series 9 Shaver
I have owned many electric razors over the years including a Braun Series 3. It was with a certain amount of trepidation that I ordered this model. There were several models around at a cheaper price including earlier series Braun. This is by far the best shaver I have owned. It gives a smooth comfortable close shave. The battery life is excellent. I have not charged it for over a week and there are still two bars of life showing on the indicator. I whole heartedly recommend this shaver.

Best shaver ever.
My last Braun shaver lasted me over 25 years. I couldn't change the batteries or would still use that one ... it's still my emergency spare ! This one is even better, with a fantastic battery life and is even better at catching all the hairs of the beard, regardless of their orientation. Great product, from the best manufacturer in this field, in my opinion. Buy without fear or hesitation, they are simply the very best.

E posso dire voto 9 quasi perfetto.
