My water tastes good
I think I used to buy this in some other form and packaging, but lost track over the years and started buying all kinds of filters that really don't work. I saw several comments that this one if the old KX Matrikx Pb1 06-250-125-975 that I had used for a long time, so I ordered it. This one works just like the prior one. My water is clean and fresh tasting again. Glad to find it. Few things are as important as putting healthy water in my body. And I absolutely will NOT buy bottled water if I can get good water right on my countertop.

These filter media really do work, and work well.
I have used these filter blocks before and they work very very well. A properly functioning and maintained RO unit is absolutly critical to maintaining your RO membranes. This will help. Get your TDS as low as possible before entering the membranes and they will last years (3-5-years).Using this as well as other micron sized media allows me to get 0-2 TDS. No hard water or scale deposits in coffee or tea pots. No chemicals to drink.

Filter micron rating is incorrerct! Showing sub par filtration!
Recent purchase of filter is showing lack of Quality control. My past purchases where fine on same filter.

Works great, VERY high flow rate
The flow rate is many times faster than my old one (new one is 3 gpm). The water was white-ish at first, but quickly cleared up. It says to run it for 20 min, before use. But the flow rate is so high, I only ran it for 10 min (30 gallons seemed like enough), it was perfectly clear in less than 1 min. Taste is good.I really appreciate the high flow rate. I've had some filters that were very slow. I have an under sink filter, but I didn't use the plumbing that came with it (small tubes). I put in my own 1/4 (I think) tubing and connectors. It was more work, but in the long run, well worth the effort, especially with this filter.

Awful compared to older versions
Have just tried this latest (and only) replacement of the kx matrikx pb1 filter. This thing is different compared to the original pb1 that it replaced. I don't care that much where it is made.1st replacement years ago, it is the one made in USA with a plastic mesh over the filter. 2nd replacement in 2016, still made in USA but somewhat cheaper made (no plastic mesh). Latest version (now, Sept 2018) made in India. All the earlier PB1 filters behaved like Brita filters when new. Gives off a blackish water due to the carbon. After flushing for a little while things quickly settles. Not so with this latest revision!White/creamy water from the start. It's been half a day and the water it filters is still white! My wife tried it accidentally and said it tasted like something rotten. Will wait until the manufacturer acknowledge the issue in some form before giving it another shot.I used this as the last stage filter in my RO system. This is the only filter I changed so the issues are definitely caused by it.
