This is not a text but looks more like a companion piece to a text book
I've been trying to find a textbook on UR/UM. This is not a text but looks more like a companion piece to a text book. This is the sort of information that I would recommend to baccalaureate students because UR/UM education is sorely lacking for nurses. But if you want a more comprehensive manual for your library, this is not i. The high price is not warranted.

No better book available!
A superb analysis of how a hospital can revitalize its system of care management and utilization review. I am aware of Ms. Daniels through her many excellent articles and presentations on this topic as well as her recognized leadership in this difficult field.

An essential reference in a field largely populated by separate journal articles and massive tombs
I did not obtain this book through Amazon, it was provided to me by the organization I work for. I am still working my way through it, but have found it to be an excellent resource/study guide, generally presenting that which is often quite dry, in a refreshingly frank, realistic manner. For what it's worth, I would make two suggestions - as most will be using it as a primary, frequently thumbed -through self-acting manual. #1, a glossary, good Lord, it's alphabet soup in there!! #2 a spiral binding is a must for a paperback study guide.

A thorough and comprehensive resource for hospital case managers of all disciplines
This book is a 'MUST HAVE' for today's professional case manager, especially those practicing in hospitals. A thorough and comprehensive resource on this valuable content is challenging to find. However, this text provides a clear rendering of the fundamentals for hospital based utilization review in the current practice climate. It hits the mark for case managers of all professional backgrounds.Ellen Fink-Samnick MSW, ACSW, LCSW, CCM, CRPPrincipal, EFS Supervision Strategies
