exactly what they promise
The fabric of these socks has a nice feel and the soles are very sticky without being too sticky. I don't like the low cut under the ankle but that is a personal preference. The socks deliver what they promise.1 Year UpdateI continue to like these socks. They have worn well. I do not give them heavy use but do use them fairly often. They have laundered well and are still in good repair.

Odd Sizing = Tripping Hazard
I was ready to order a dozen of these as I wear socks around a 100% hardwood house all year long. Thank God I decided to try one pair first. They are crap and, I believe, dangerous.First, the quality is definitely on the cheap side. The weave is loose, not nice and tight like most of the quality socks I wear. I can't imagine they'd last long. But the fact is I'll never know, because I would consider wearing them on hardwood floors dangerous. The size chart says a Large should go up to a US size 12.5. My feet are a SMALL size 12, and these are stretched so tight that they come off constantly. I just threw them in the trash now because they popped off while I was ascending hardwood stairs with a cranky dog.I sometimes order a dozen things or more per week from Amazon (hate going to the store), and this is the worst product I've ever seen on this website. Shame on you Amazon - take it down before someone gets hurt.

Traction Socks
I'm wearing them now. Just finished practicing my Tai Chi. I bought the large because they were rated "runs small". I wear a woman's size 8 shoe and size 81/2 sneaker. It was recommended to get the large for a size 8 woman's shoe. They are a little big even after washing but serve the purpose as it gives enough friction, but the traction runs from the bottom of the toes to half way up the heels, allowing one to easily turn on one's heel. They do leave smudgy marks on the hardwood floors but other traction socks do as well. Does not leave a stain. They are very comfortable and soft feeling. If I were to purchase another pair I would probably choose the large again as they will be washed often. I thought the price of $9.99 & over $5 shipping and handling was high. I have seen socks like these, though with toes for $3.99 at Marshalls.Content is 86% Organic Cotton 13% Spandex and 1% NylonThe shoe size chart that came with it reads US Men's US Women's UK E.US 4-6 2-3.5 30-36M 5-8.5 6.5-9.5 4-7.5 37-41.5L 9-12.5 10-13 8-11.5 42-46XL 13-16 12-15 47-49

Definitely size UP if on the high end of each size
Bought these for my husband after our daughter was invited to a party at a gym place where there was a no shoes/no bare feet/socks only policy, and they encouraged the wearing of socks with non-slip grips. We had some old hospital-type non-slip socks kicking around in a drawer, but those never really stay on well enough for more than simple walking (and at a toddler party, we knew we'd be doing more than just walking ;D). These fill the bill nicely; they are quite grippy, comfortable, stay on well, and he likes the little padded pull on the back of the ankle (note, these socks probably would not be comfortable worn under boots or shoes that would cover the padded pull; best to bring them with and change into them).NOTE ABOUT SIZING: He wears an 8-1/2 Men's, but as that was on the high end of the "Medium" size range listed in the product description, and because other reviewers mentioned them being a bit too small, I ordered him a Large, and he says they fit fine. If you are a much larger size than a Men's 9 or so, though, purchase the "Large" with caution, as they may be too small for you.

Hole in the sock after the first couple weeks of wear
I'm big on wearing socks around the house instead of going barefoot/wearing shoes... unfortunately these socks just didn't hold up as well as a couple other brands, namely: Power Sox and Balega. Power Sox are tough, but Balega seems to be holding up just as well and they are much more comfortable. Those two brands are priced similarly, and in my mind are worth the money. This one, not so much. However, neither of those two brands have "traction" on the bottom, but I've never needed it before and am currently doing fine with both on smooth laminate flooring, even running around on it playing with the dog. That said, my flooring doesn't have a perfectly smooth glassy finish either, so maybe that would be the ideal scenario for these. The Power Sox I've had and worn for a couple years now without a hole, and I was just introduced to Balega earlier this year but they seem to be to top tier so far. One foot sock of my pair of Traction socks developed a hole around the toenail fairly quickly, whereas both Balega and Power Sox have not after extensive use. Traction Socks would probably be fine with lighter use and more useful on slicker floors, but that isn't my case, so I'm sticking with Balega even though it doesn't have rubber traction on the bottom.

Comfortable
These were purchased in purple for Mrs. Boilermate. The size charts say "small" is 3 to 6 shoe size and "medium" is 6 to 9, and Mrs. Boilermate wears a size 6. Since other reviewers said these tend to run small I ordered a medium, and Mrs. Boilermate says they fit perfectly. She also says they're very comfortable and the grippy part is effective. She said she would recommend them and would welcome additional pairs.12/17/15 - ETA: Santa will be bringing her a blue pair this Christmas.

Excellent traction
I've been looking for a slip-proof short sock that's cool enough to wear in the summer, and this is the best I've found. Though a little thicker than I'd like, these aren't too hot, and unlike tube socks, have a well-tailored and turned heel that help them stay on the foot and avoid foot-in-sock slippage that can negate the non-slip treads. I one's foot slips inside the sock, it can be just as dangerous as the sock slipping on the floor. I don't really like the tighter knit of the so-called arch support -- socks just won't support the arch as an orthotic shoe insert will, and this is useless for the purpose; a more likely result is swelling of the forefoot below the constricting band. However, it's a minor problem. I would definitely buy more of these, and I wish they came in more bright colors than pink and blue.

I love these for running, but I wish they did not have nylon and other petroleum based fibers. For now, I suppose these are the best you can get unless you want to slip...
