About 10% germination rate
I had a VERY LOW germination rate for these - about 10%. I had one entire row that had NO germination at all (direct sow). I had also started some in cups with the same issue. I planted 3 per cup in 12 cups and only 2 plants came up. And that being said, they ARE NOT collard sprouts. As with another review, I had some yellow seeds (?) mixed in with the collard seeds. I'm wondering if that's what sprouted in the cups. I have let them continue to grow as I am curious what exactly they are. I also got broccoli, cabbage, cucumber, onion, tomato, watermelon, and celery seeds from this company with mixed results. The cabbage, cuke, and onion did not germinate well at all. Basically a waste of time and money.

4:8 Germination Direct Sow
I am that person... who counted the seeds (sorry!). Advertised as 500 seeds I believe but it was closer to 400. I suspect that the crushed (yellow/light tan) pieces in the picture made up the 100 that were missing from the count. The paper seed pack arrived with no protection in a normal envelope so they could have been crushed before or during shipping.I planted the seeds directly in the soil outside 2 seeds per hole 1 ft apart (4 holes) and I think I may have planted them a 1/4in too deep (whoops). I had one hole where neither seed sprouted. One hole had both seeds sprout, so I seperated them and the other two holes each had 1:2 of the seeds germinate, so we have about 50% success rate and I ended up with 4 sprouts from 8 seeds. I lost one seedling in bad weather. The other three sprouts are still doing ok, but I am hoping for growth spurt soon! These are 2 week old sprouts right now circled in red (the x is where one was but it died right after a bad storm damaged it). I sowed my seeds at the end of May in zone 7 in a cinder block raised bed filled with leaf mulch, Miracle Grow in-ground planting mix, black cow, and mushroom compost (NC Piedmont area). I plan to harvest and plant again this fall.
