Excellent product
Another great product from A.M. Leonard - really sturdy yet a snip to cut, no pun intended. Just got some new trees in an area with a high deer population so was delighted to discover these tree-bark protectors. Got the 36" ones which were close to perfect for two tress, and cut another couple up for some Japanese Maples as they branch low down. In addition to their practical value, I like that these protectors are really unobtrusive in the landscape. Get some UV resistant zip-ties to hold them closed.Have to give another A.M. Leonard product a plug: their fertilizer sticks - get them if you have trees.

Simple Long Lasting Easy to Use
Ok this ones easy. Product is what your not gona find at the local home store. Its Mostly rigid easy to shape in warm weather and long lasting. My Dog even gave up on this stuff. Must have for small orchards or areas with deer or other critter issues on any young tree. Order the correct hiht for your tree you do not want to cut or try to combine peices. Recommend you buy uv resistant zip ties. Much better than soap wire mess or that rolled plastic that looks like a spring. This is a long lasting product. So it's been six years and I am still using these. They are so tough. I loan them out to friends all the time. The company that makes these is just awesome. They have yet to become brittle. Some have light edge chewing from rodents. Have sent orchard owners here and they swear by them. But most are now going to high electric fencing.

Excellent product, minor room for improvement...
I love the Plastic Mesh Tree Bark Protectors. The packaging is efficient and minimal and the guards go on very easily. The one opportunity for improvement is a latching mechanism that allows for two ends to be connected together, ultimately closing the loop around the tree (which I accomplished with a zip tie). AND, it appears to be successfully protecting the tree from the abundance of deer we have in the area.

Easy to install
Pricey, but easy to install if you use some zip ties (really should have been included at the price) and feels sturdy enough to keep the local deer population away from our trees. Wish there was a smaller package (only needed two) available.

Allows tree trunks to breathe, exposed to sun, and prevents critters from chewing on the bark
I looked at rigid options, wire mesh, and other ways of protecting the trunks of saplings. My local golf course uses fabric wraps, but my experience is that rabbits can chew through almost anything and fabric isn't going to cut it. These bark protectors are basically circular plastic mesh about 3 feet tall, with a slit cut down the length so they are easily installed on trees. You do have to ensure they are tightly inserted into the ground, or else critters can just go underneath the mesh.Overall: 5/5 stars, a bit more expensive than what I was expecting, but overall solid build quality and is easy to use.

Cut these to protect against string trimmers
We cut these into six inch segments and used them on the bottom of our new fruit trees. Our goal was only to protect our new plants from the yard crew since no matter how often you have the conversation, some new kid eventually girdles your trees with a string trimmer. We had to tie the plastic mesh segments together because they were a bit too rigid but that was not a big problem. We used twine to bind the ends. Doing this was far less expensive than using the other tree protector options we found. They were not that difficult to cut. We used a pair of new, cheap scissors and didn't have to bring out the tin snips or any other tools.

These protect young trees
I have a a deer invasion. These protectors protect my small trees from being eaten and ripped apart by deer antlers. They are easy to cut to size. Buy a pack of zip ties to control the tension of the protector on the tree trunk. They also help in severe winds.

Easy to Apply Product to Prevent Buck Rubs
I bought these to protect my linden tree from buck rubs. It has happened twice already and I thought I might lose the tree but it did heal over. So to prevent more damage, I bought these. I had to put two on the the tree back to back as the tree is just slightly bigger than what one of these will cover. The product seems very sturdy and I think it will be just what I needed. Hopefully, my linden will be big enough next year to not interest the bucks any more. My understanding is they (bucks) like trees of a certain caliper. I do know that lindens are one of their favorites to rub.
