The flame resistant Massif Elments jacket has been designated by the US Army for inclusion into the FREE (Fire Resistant Environmental Ensemble) program as an LWOL (Light Weather Outer Layer). It is specially designed to stay comfortable and not bunch when worn over the uniform and under packs and body armor. Trademarked Massif technology, and their proprietary knitting and finishing techniques were used to engineer this trouser for maximum fire protection and durability while keeping the weight down, to maintain comfort and ease of use. The FR LWOL Jacket triple-layer fabric features a breathable windproof and waterproof membrane, and a fleece lined interior. In addition to the outer layer of flame resistant material, the fleece lining features Flamestretch technology patented by Massif, made from DuPont Nomex. In addition to the safety and comfort features, there are also many more functional features included in this jacket. Zippered pockets on the shoulders allow easy access to gear, flapped pen pockets accomodate aviators, and there is a pass-through flap in the back for CVC (combat vehicle crewman) extraction strap.

I'm 5'10 230lbs and I bounce between a large and an extra large. I heard they run a little small, so I decided to get a Extra Large. The jacket is a little loose (not as loose as the vest), which is what I wanted. That way if I have the Massif shirt and a base layer on, it would not be too tight. Plus, if I carry a side arm, it is concealable with minimal printing.

couldn't have arrived at a better time! :-)
I ordered the large long size. I just received it today so I tried it on and it's a little tight. I think that is fine because I'll have my ocp blouse off while wearing it. I notice the torso is a bit longer than I expected because I have large long ocp tops and they don't go down as much as this does. Because of this, it hangs up on my gun when I use a hip holster. I think after a bit more wear it will feel better. When I was buying this I expected more fleece on the inside. I think when I get the IWOL I will oder it in the extra large size because the torso is also a bit narrow. I was worried I was ordering a knock off but after receiving it in sure it's made by Massiff. It came with all of the tags still on it and the zipper is made by ideal. It also still has the stitches from thee IR tag. I doubt they would leave that on a fake... The outer fabric is a bit stiff and may prove to be a bit loud for hunting. Over all, very happy with the product and looking forward to ordering the IWOL in addition to trousers on LWOL & IWOL.

Word of advise. This is a snug fit. Most of us would want more room so I would suggest considering the next size up. Extremely comfortable and tested in -5 degree weather. It did the job. Kept me warm.
