A Picture Paints a Thousand Words Just as the Collages in this Deck!
Do not buy one Voyager Tarot Deck, buy two. You’ll be happy that you did. I have been reading Tarot for 17 years, the last 12 professionally. I was gifted with a deck years ago and this was the deck I learned to read Tarot with. One of the suggestions I came across early in my career was to have three decks of the same cards. One for your personal use, one for teaching, and one for professional readings. This didn’t make sense to me until I began working at a metaphysical bookstore and had to cart my cards back and forth everyday. If I forgot them, then I couldn’t do readings, so keeping a second deck at work was the best plan and it lightened my load.I highly recommend taking a class from the creator of this deck, James Wanless. He is fun, passionately animated, and is dedicated to opening the door to every student’s psychic awakening. He really lives this deck and communicates his enthusiasm to his classes. The deck itself is unlike any available and that is why it is still in demand. By using a collage of familiar pictures, Wanless paints a tapestry which is more familiar to modern readers. He himself, wanted a deck which spoke to modern times rather than the age of Kings, Queens, Knights, and Pages. Trigger words grace the tops of the Minor Arcana, which act as guide posts to the beginner. The Major Arcana still use the age old titles except the Devil becomes ‘Devil’s Play,’ Judgment becomes ‘Time Space,’ Fool becomes 'Fool/Child' and Temperance become ‘Art.’The wonderful aspect of these cards is that they are so filled with visual metaphor that you can use them for years and still have new aspects pop out at you. You will find yourself saying, ‘oh! I never saw that before!’ Wanless does not suggest reading reverses, instead he points out that all the cards have a shadow side, just like every person has. By opening up to the light and shadow of each card, you allow your intuitive nature to call forth the message in the reading. This is exactly the reason for Tarot, to connect with your intuition so that it becomes second nature, to build up your sixth sense. The original decks are much wider and offer a larger pictorial narrative, the newest version is cut smaller and thus easier to handle but also has a smaller format in which is not as easy to see all the detail. Clients may have a difficult time shuffling the larger deck of the older version. I always ask my clients to shuffle side to side because I do not read reverses, also to allow the cards to drop in a side to side shuffle which makes it easier for some. You may even request that your clients not shuffle, but simply hold the deck with their question in mind. I always tell my clients that the most powerful question that they can ask the Divine is; What is it that you would like me to know? By asking what the Divine has planned for you, then you get more of a picture of what is coming to you, so that you can prepare for it.This deck works beautifully with other decks. I have a Doreen Virtue Angel Therapy Deck which I lay on top of my Voyager Tarot to reveal to my client what angel is working with them, Then on top of that I lay The Enchanted Map Oracle Cards by Colette Baron-Reid. I have my client cut the deck to pick each card in a ten card spread and I read after every new card is laid down. When the reading is done it gives a three dimensional aspect to the reading with each of the cards complimenting and enhancing the others. The Tarot reveals the energy which is taking place right now in the client's life. The Angel cards reveal what agelic guidence to follow and the Map cards reveal the outcome of choices made. It's a lot more work, but it is a very complete reading. The voyager deck in itself is a beautiful deck with vibrant colors. By laying out the Major Arcana along one side then distributing the Minor Arcana to reflect the aspects and relationships between the cards you can lay out the entire deck and view a panoramic display of energy as it shifts and changes from the ace to the ten. I do this with my classes, it is breathtaking to see all the cards laid out and how the colors blend from one level to another. The royalty cards reveal the Child, Woman, Man, and Master each with a variety of people to portray what was once called the court cards. Real people reflect back to you real emotions, thoughts, actions, and abilities. The court cards reveal clearly the meaning rather than being veiled in mystery and hidden symbology. These alone make it easier to read this deck over others. My personal deck is autographed by James Wanless, Master Symbolist and I am hoping to have him also sign my other deck. I always direct new initiates to the Voyager Tarot Deck. I feel it is a cutting edge deck and has been since it’s creation. As I said, don’t just get one, buy two, you will be glad you did.

Until something leaked in my luggage recently they looked as good as new
Have used these cards for over 25 years. Until something leaked in my luggage recently they looked as good as new, if taken care of, the quality of this card stock is so high I had not needed to replace them till now. Also I have found them so easy to read... They have a story to tell, and with so much beautiful imagery the subtly of it becomes clear.

Different & Fantastic
The collage-like images of this tarot deck are unusual, complicated, and beautiful. Created by James Wanless in the 1980s, the images mix contemporary technology with ancient statues, landscapes, minerals, and more. The deck is both timeless, and a reflection of the time it was createdWanless stayed true to classic Tarot symbology, and evolved the deck's context for the contemporary human.Because of the blend of symbolism and references I needed a few months before I felt confident reading from this deck; patience was rewarding, as this is now one of my two favorite decks. I recommend these cards for people who seek readings that are mindful, uplifting, and encouraging. Also, if you're drawn to world mythology, the natural world, and the cosmos. What I've learned: these card prefer being read in the sunlight.I highly recommend the companion book, "Voyager Tarot: Way of the Great Oracle," because it goes into deeper detail about the individual images and symbols of every card.

I love the complexity and depth of this set
I was gifted a deck of these cards in 2002. After several moves I lost track of that deck (it may be in storage) so I purchased this deck as a replacement. I love the complexity and depth of this set.

These cards will help provide a beautiful experience.
I love these cards. I have seen other reviews stating they were too "busy" and the images were too confusing. I disagree and wonder if they are missing the point of the series. The cards are unique in using contemporary and abstract visual imagery but more importantly, the artwork combines different oracles of astrology, shamanism and psychology to interpret the symbols of self creation and empowerment. The boxed set includes 78 cards and small reference guide. To understand the full meaning of the cards, the "Voyager Tarot - Way of the Oracle" should also used.
