A Classic From When Television was still Fun
I hadn't watched this when it first came out. It was the golden age of syndicated television, and would set the stage for the coming fantasy genre revolution. Hercules, even in its day, was a throwback to fun, weekly adventures. A bit campy, and not always concerned with continuous or serious storylines, yet it was an enjoyable escape. In our era, where every show doesn't know how to be anything but dark, dreary and overly mature, it is no wonder people are still watching Hercules nearly thirty years after it premiered. This doesn't include the tv movies, which previous collections made part of Season 1. So this technically isn't the "complete series" like the cover states. Watch out, many of the tv movie collections are from a different DVD region (so if you live in the U.S., you'll need a region-free player or convert the dvds). Or you can do what I did, and buy season one of one of the previous releases, and add the movie discs to this set. This set is meant to be a low cost set with no extras. The shows are in original resolution (and the old tv ratio), which looks fine on new tvs, but maybe someday an upgraded res edition will be released. The case packs in all of the DVDs, but the design can make it hard to remove the discs. I modified each "spool" by removing all but 2 retaining tabs, so now I'm not bending discs to remove them.Television has forgotten how to entertain and give us shows we can enjoy, or they're political and trying to brainwash people. You'll get an occasional "message" episode in Hercules, but in '90s style - discrimination is bad, don't do it. Sure, maybe the writing isn't as polished and deep as we've come to expect, but it's fun. It isn't rated, but probably would by TV-PG: Lots of action, usually bloodless; rarely any questionable language; a handful of times Hercules hooks up with women, but he isn't out cruising for girls (in fact, he always seems quite leisurely and never in a hurry); the women are dressed to show their feminine qualities - no wonder so many boys loved the show. Not really a kids show, but far tamer than what is thrown at kids now. Keep an eye out for actors recast in multiple roles, now-famous actors in early roles, re-use of locations (and you Legend of the Seeker fans, familiar locations and actors), and the many in-joke references to the modern world. If you didn't watch Hercules, take a look, you'll have fun. It launched the Hercverse, one of the rare shared universes before they were a thing, with spinoffs Young Hercules and Xena. Old fans will certainly want to get this, too. Hercules, along with Merlin, are much better than what you'll find on the tube now. Thank goodness they weren't made today, because they certainly would be ruined.

Love this show
First, this is a great show. The video quality on some of the episodes is a little grain. Although I do not like how these box sets are put together, all of the disk are in good condition. It should be noted that at least five episodes are considered movies. These episode movies are not included in this set. You will need to buy them separately.

DVD Case Has Minor Damage, But "Hercules" TV Series Still Great!
I just bought this "Hercules" TV Series DVD Collection new. When I opened the package, I noticed a minor damage on the left side near bottom of the dvd case. So I put clear tape temporarily on it. Great news is that there were no scratches or any damage on the dvd discs when I opened the case.I've been a fan of this series since the mid 1990's. I've also watched the 1st five movies of "Hercules and The Legendary Journeys" before the series came out. I already have the "Xena, Warrior Princess DVD Collection. So I can't wait to add the Hercules 5 Movies to my collection.4/5⭐s for the minor damage on dvd case & 5/5⭐s for the Hercules TV Series!Highly Recommended! 😃

Great series, DVDs quality is okay, Case awful
The series is enjoyable. It's great that there's subtitles in English as sometimes it is difficult to hear over the music but that does get better in later seasons. Quite unfortunate that the five movies are not included so the series isn't complete. The DVD quality is okay. Not great but acceptable. Some people might find it bad but this goes back to how they recorded the series originally. It's never been remastered (at least for region 1) so it is what it is.The DVD case is awful. Instead of splitting the seasons up into separate cases, it is an all-in-one for 25 discs that was very poorly made. I cannot say enough horrible things about it. The discs are going to break if kept in there because they are extremely difficult to remove. I removed every disc and will never put them back in. They are safer sitting stacked in a drawer. Be prepared to buy a replacement case (or cases if you want to divide by seasons). You definitely do NOT want to keep using this case.

Best Hercules!
This was nostalgic. Used to watch the series when i was younger but never got to see it all. Great set! A couple of the DVD release buttons were broken but otherwise no playback issues. Watched it on a PS3 and 55” 4K UHD with no scaling issues. Again, best Hercules ever!!!
