Small Woodworking Shops (Fine Woodworking): The New Best of Fine Woodworking (New Best of Fine Woodworking Series)

Very good book for planning workshops, large and small
Book is based on large and small (garage) size workshops. The cover picture is actually a single car garage. Really for people who will use a large table saw. However, even if you have a small shed, it still gives you the basics. Also full of other ideas for fitting out the workshop with benches and other equipment.

First Impression
First rate delivery as usual but I was disappointed to find that the book was all American. For example, wiring regs differ and their nomenclature differs for various items. Being English, I visit the 'Amazon UK' site and expect to find reference books 'relevant to the UK'.Amazon, please be more clear in your descriptions.I'll keep the book because it has some useful hints, but, had I known better, I would not have bought this one.

Not quite what it says on the tin...
This is an interesting collection of previously published articles from Fine Woodworking but the main disappointment is with the title! The articles describe workshops that variously: look like a detached 4 bed house, a workshop of 720 square feet, one of 1300 sq. ft, and another at 3000 sq. ft. Only two articles describe what I would call 'small' workshops - one in a single car garage and another in a large double garage. So clearly the 'small' in the title translates to 'around the same size as Wyoming'... If, like me, you actually are trying to set up a workshop in a small space, this book's descriptions of enormous workshops is a bit frustrating and not directly helpful. That said, there are a number of interesting ideas, plus valuable sections on dust control and lighting. But overall, disappointing. And, considering it's a collection of unedited magazine reprints, it's probably over priced.
