I love the convenience of slip leads, and this one seemed to be well made and good quality. Until it broke. And of course, these things never happen at a good time. We live in MN, and it’s been a heavy snow year. My husband, who has a vicious type of vertigo, was walking our dogs along the paths he had created in our yard. 2 feet of snow is not easy for any sized dog, so he used a snow blower to make poop paths.Well, on a particularly bad vertigo morning he took the dogs out, only to come across a baby squirrel stuck in the snow. It was doing summersaults trying to get out of the deep snow and it was more than our dog Gracie could handle. She jumped at the squirrel and the lead snapped and then They were off!Fortunately, the squirrel figured out in a hurry how to get out of the snow. Unfortunately, Gracie is a runner and was headed for Florida. I can’t blame her.My husband still had our other dog, who hates snow, and had to try to run through 2 foot high snow chasing a dog on vacation while battling vertigo and an 80 pound snow coward. It was a bad day.Gracie fell off a landscape wall and got wedged between a fence and a garden shed, so my husband was able to bring her home. They didn’t talk to each other for days.We have 4 of these leads around the house, to use at each door, but now we are using other leads. The snow is gone now, and if another one breaks we would never see Gracie again.

I wanted some new leashes for our four rescue dogs that range in size from a 15 lb. terrier to a 65 lb. shepherd mix. I find that walking all of our dogs can be difficult with 2 people and almost impossible alone – mostly because they do not have great leash manners and are often so excited to go for a walk that they pull me so that it feels more like they’re walking me than I’m walking them.I know that a leash alone cannot fix this problem – but thought it might be a step in the right direction – and came across this type of leash when I was watching dog obedience issues on one of Cesar Milan’s many television shows. I was struck by the fact that he didn’t use choke chains but rather these simple slip rope leashes.I looked them up but saw the ones with his official name on them were rather expensive, so I decided to look on Amazon to see if I could find something less expensive but still effective and I found these (among others). I liked that these seemed to have decent reviews and came in a variety of colors – but were affordable enough that I felt like I could get 4. I did and, with Prime, they came in quickly.So far, I really like them. They look and feel sturdy – and I like the colors. I think because they do get a little tighter around the neck when you or your dog pull hard, my dogs are definitely not pulling me AS hard as they were. Yet I don’t feel like these are causing my dogs any undue harm because they are not at all causing them to have to strain to breathe – just not pull me quite as hard as before (which is a help!)I hope that with some positive reinforcement training in conjunction to this type of leash, our walks will become a more positive experience for all of us as time goes on – something I really look forward to! I know that the dogs like to go for a walk every day and I’m not dreading the idea as much as before thanks to these. Would definitely recommend them and will check back in to alter my review if/when necessary.

This review is based on light use with this product. I do not use this as my main leash. It’s used for quick trips outside and not long walks. It’s very sturdy and the leather reinforcements are strong. The rope is comfortable to hold. The leash length is as described at 6” (I actually measured 6’4”). However, it’s worth noting that with the slip lead, you need to factor in your dog’s neck measurement for how much leash length there eilll be when walking. If the neck is 16”, then your remaining leash length is more like 5ft. The color is true to the image, more of a crimson than true red.

Let me Begin by saying we have a wolf hybrid who has 43% timberwolf and my boyfriend owns a aggressive mentally insane Belgian Malinois puppy these suggested by our dog trainer. I would say it's a good way to control a not aggressive or large breed dog to make them walk a little bit better however my wolf hybrid doesn't care you could choke the hell out of him with it he still will pull and not listen. It works good on the Belgian Malinois because it's hard to get stuff around his neck that stays however choking them out still did not fix the aggression so these are not really training collars their Morpher finished dog that has manners that you might need a little more control of over a normal collar

I wish I could have liked these leashes more. I did like how thick they are. The “leather” is so cheap and thin though, that the stopper doesn’t really do much which makes it hard for the slip lead to stay on snug. My dog also bit the metal clasp on the stopper (since it slid down the leash) and it completely bent. It’s not made of the best materials but you get what you pay for.

Would work for smaller dogs or dogs with excellent leash manners. I purchased for a 100lbs young excitable Lab who is a puller. To me, “extremely durable” (which is how this product is described) should work for a dog like mine. First time we used it I could feel the leash popping - not sure if it was the seems in the leather pieces or just the reflective cording. It’s also very stretchy when pulled on which makes me think it will wear out fast. Definitely don’t trust this leash and won’t use it again. The reflective cord is also sharp and uncomfortable to hold. Don’t think it’s bad enough to hurt the dog, but it’s definitely not fun for me holding a 100# dog on the other end.

Bought this for our dog due to the rating. Like the fact that it is at a great price as well. However, after using it two, three times i realized that the reflective white thread was poorly made, sharp and started cutting my hands. My dog doesn't generally pull during our walks. Today, noticed that the few times that it pulled out of excitement, it ended up getting scratched on its neck pretty badly. Had to treat it. Won't be using the leash anymore.
