This was a pleasant view with some nice down under (NZ) scenery
This was a pleasant view with some nice down under (NZ) scenery, but I am glad we watched it first as it was a little dark in places for 5 & 7 year olds. There was a surreal moment when Val Kilmer made a derogatory aside re how he felt about Joanne Whalley, at which point I laughed and said "You dont know what's coming mate", to my partner, she replied "I thought this was the film that kindled their short lived romance". How ironic, see if you can spot the moment. This has little in the way of CGI special effects and uses Animatronics, dont ask, I read it in the credits. Nice to sit and watch with older children, but view it yourself first to judge. The sound was excellent and the acting OK for a film of this genre. I thought Willow was the baby girl, but no, to my surprise, as our friends daughter is called Willow, it turned out to be Warwick Davis as the lead hero. I enjoyed this film, it kept my interest and I loved the scenery and back in the day, well, I had a bit of a crush on Joanne Whalley.

A magic-less, fantasy-less, fantasy film
A friend recommended this fantasy film as I was in the mood for a fantasy. I didn’t understand how this film could be considered a “fantasy” as nearly an hour of it seemed to be devoted to fighting/battle scenes. It seemed that every 10 minutes there was a 20 or 30 minute fight scene. I was disappointed in the lack of magic ability that Willow possessed. He just carried a stick that did nothing to get him out of trouble. I think this movie should have been classified as an action film considering the sheer amount of fighting that took place. I’m sure those who love epic battle scenes in a medieval setting would LOVE this film. My basis for comparison of fantasy films are Jim Henson films: Labyrinth and Dark Crystal, as well as the Neverending Story, which I felt were fantastical! The five star rating is for the condition of the product. No problems with the case, disc, or shipping of the product.

Willow

Ultra-wide screen, great movie
When I was recieved it the case was pretty badly damaged, broken along the bottom, but I have a couple extra cases, so this was fine. I doubt it was the seller's fault.I didn't realize it when I bought it, but the aspect ratio is 2.39:1 (ultra wide), so just take note! (One day, when we all have ultra wide tvs, it'll be fine :p)I tested out the DVD and it seems to work fine. It is a significant quality improval over my VHS copy. I am satisfied.
