Rubie's Official Ladies Supergirl Dress

Bought this costume for Halloween and it arrived 4 days earlier than the expected arrival date which was fantastic. The costume is excellent and it really looks the part; top part of the dress is a velvet material with the 'S' logo embroidered on and the skirt, cape and boot tops are a shiny red material. I bought size small and the fit was as expected. The Velcro gold belt was too big but I tied it up at the back instead and the cape covers the knot so that was fine. I had to use sellotape to secure the boot tops over my size 5 feet but they stayed on surprisingly well. You can put them over pretty much any shoe- I've worn them with heels and flat boots. Would definitely recommend this Supergirl costume!

I have normally struggled with buying these costumes online, so I was very relieved to find this was almost exactly what I expected. I loved the material- it didn't feel cheap at all. The dress is quite short, but it was no shorter than I expected. The gold trim around the neck and end of sleeves were very nice. I fell in love with the cape, which attaches to the top by two squares of velcro so if it gets snagged on something, the whole costume doesn't come apart. It was lovely, made of the same material as the skirt with a gold trim around the top and fell very nicely. I am a size 10-12 and the fit was fine. My only criticisms are concerning the belt and boot covers. The belt was quite big and made of a painted foam with velcro at the back. The belt didn't really cover the divide between the top and the skirt and kept flopping about. I was tempted to leave it, but I wore it anyway as it added to the costume still and if I adjusted it just before photos it looked ok. I couldn't use the boot covers at all. They were designed for a certain figure that, alas, I do not have. Overall, I was incredibly happy with the outfit and would recommend buying a Rubie's costume rather than hiring one (for me it worked out cheaper to buy this one online than hire it for a day from a costume shop...). It arrived on time too.

Really cute outfit and fits well stretchy in the right places

This outfit is very well made and comfy, I am a 14, it fit fab, not at all tight, very flattering and the velour fabric is very soft and stretchy. The boot covers were not great, the part that covers the foot just sits on top of shoe. I cut the feet bits off and sewed the edge and wore them on my lower arms and they looked great like that. I bought opaque red stockings and wore those instead. Hubby thought it all looked great !!! Skirt is short, but I managed to get hold of some quiet ridiculous metallic red hot pant/short things, but they did the job and saved my modesty !!

Came already opened and was obviously returned. Poor quality and took a long time to arrive.

I never leave reviews but for something like this I think it helps others who want to buy. I brought an XS I'm about a 6/8 and it fits PERFECT!! The quality is fantastic, the booties are ace and my kids at work went CRAZY!! I wore leggings underneath as it is short but the Cape is longer so does cover if you didnt want to wear leggings. I'd definitely buy from this company again!! 10/10!!

The top half is made of velvet material and fits quite nicely. With things like this, boning would help keep it sitting in the right place, but for #25, this was not expected and is negligible really. I am between a 12 and 14, and I went for a large. The page advertised different seller's outfits, and a 12-14 was given as both medium and large, but I was worried that the medium might be too small. In actual fact, I could probably have gone with the medium as this one is generally fine but possibly slightly big in places. This again is negligible and I will keep this one as it still fits fairly well. The Supergirl S is sewn on, and the cape velcros on at the shoulders. The skirt part (attached to the top) is made from an elastic type material which reminded me of a wipe-down table cloth for children's parties! But again, for #25, I'm not going to complain for the occasional wear it will get. The cape is made of the same material. The overall finishing on the outfit is amateur to professional - it's not amazing but it works. As per the previous reviews I read, the boot covers would perhaps cover those with size 3 feet, but not my size 7s! I will need to do a bit of jiggery pokery with them to make them work with what I have, but as someone who can sew, this is not a problem either. The leg parts of the boot bits fit well enough and are lined. The gold belt does up with Velcro, but I found this massively too big - by several cm, so I will need to adjust this, but I can do that. All in all, this is a great suit which arrived really quickly. I'm really looking forward to wearing it!

I bought this costume for my niece. She is a busty 12/14, so I originally ordered the Plus Size. It was beautiful, but the arms hung off the edge of her wrists and the shoulders where the cape was sewn on turned the neckline outwards. Also, the neckline was off, no matter what bra went under it and the belt was a hula hoop. I got the large size. (Note, there is a "one size" plus size and although it was big on her, I don't think it would work well for every size and shape of plus size people.) Again, the costume was very nice- vibrant color, decent materials (velvet-ish top, metallic skirt and cape, sturdy sewn on "S" patch, foam metallic velcro belt, metallic boot covers). This time the cape was attached with velcro. The proportions were smaller, which was good and bad. The waist was not as dropped (the "v" was very close to her belly button) and the skirt was shorter. The fit was much better on top, but there was concern about the skirt. The front fell a little above the knee, but the back rode up some (She is about 5'5). We remedied that with stockings (hosiery, not leggings) and the boot covers helped. There was not a problem getting the boot covers up the leg, but the bottoms are a joke. The front is this small point shaped flap of material and you step through a piece of elastic to keep it on. They do not cover like the woman in the picture. With booties and some tucking, they were able to work. The belt was large even in the smaller size, but safety pins worked all day. The cape stayed on firmly. Overall, we were both happy and I hope to donate this costume, as it is nice and was only worn once.
