Works nicely
Bought a returned (used) one for a third of original price. Come to find out it wasn't ever opened so still new works nicely with my helix 7. After adjusting the finder I can see the tiny ice jigs every movement 3-50' down.

A tale of two situations...
I use a Humminbird 597ci HD with this transducer. I've got three pieces of feedback. First, if you are fishing by yourself (i.e. no other Vexilar's, Marcum's, other flashers are around) this ice fishing rig works fantastic. Besides using the flasher I've found one feature on the 597 which I use to out fish many others. The RTS window. RTS stands for Real Time Sonar and it operates at the maximum signal speed as the rest of your chart scrolls to the left. I've used this feature to immediately see larger Crappie's and in a large school can pull the bait up and out of the school to entice only the most aggressive fish to bite. Great feature. Now for the two things I didn't like. First, if you are in a Clam or other shack and your fishing buddy has another unit the 597 ice rig picks up ALL the interference and becomes very difficult/bordering on unusable. Would love to help Humminbird work out their product kinks with some product R&D on this issue as it is great solo, but close to worthless when it's -20 below and you have a fish buddy fishing a hole two feet away. The last issue I had was the connector cable. I've attached a picture of what happened after the first ice outing. There are supposed to be two cables attached, but the design doesn't work well with the ice buildup. A Vexilar or Marcum flasher cable is designed as a single cable; why can't a company who puts out great products like Humminbird do likewise?I love Humminbird products; in fact sold my HDS 7 from Lowrance so I can add a 999 to my console on my boat. Love the 597ci HD on my boat and hard water fishing if alone. Other units though leaves a lot to be desired. RTS fishing is great to try.

I am much happier with my humminbird as a ice fishing finder.
I picked up a Humminbird 160 pirhanamax portable fish finder this year and tried to use the original transducer for ice fishing. It did work without too much trouble, but I didn’t like the weight of the transducer pulling on a signal cable that wasn't intended to suspend the transducer in water. I also had a couple instances of my finder "fuzzing" when the temperature got around -20. I Googled an ice fishing transducer for my unit and was pleasantly surprised that Amazon had one. I ordered it and got it two days later and it was in the ice four days after order. We fished in -20 all day with no problems whatsoever. I was surprised with how much more sensitive it was to a smaller jig and really happy with not having to keep adjusting the transducer in order to keep it parallel with the lake bottom. I think that Humminbird did an excellent job at making sure all the necessary parts were provided. The transducer came with a support cable that removes any tension on the signal cable by caging around the transducer and hooking to the unit for support. It was easy to adjust for ice thickness and I liked that the cable was much shorter for ice fishing purposes. Taking your transducer in and out of the ice checking for fish all day has to take its toll on your unit. This provides the answer to that problem and more.

Humminbird Ice Transducer
I purchased this ice transducer to convert my Humminbird 777c to an ice machine. I already use a Marcum 3 flasher but wanted to have a 2nd unit available for multiple holes. I was amazed by the performance. It took awhile to find the settings which worked best for me, but once I figured out the best sensitivity and what frequency and screen view to use, I was hooked. The 777 has a flasher mode which emulates the Vexilar and Marcum flasher views, but I preferred the scrolling bottom view. I could easily see my 1/4oz jig moving up and down as I bounced it and the fish really showed up well. You can see them appear and change depths to follow the bait as it is raised and lowered. I may retire my Marcum flasher and only use this one. Now I can use my Humminbird 777 on both open water with my boat mount transducer and on the ice with this ice transducer. You will need an extra power cable as well if your boat mount is permanently attached.

Ordered this transducer due to the Humminbird XI 9 1520 being impossible to order anywhere, It works but missing out on the Chirp features sucks. When will Humminbird get their **** together and make them available again.

recieved damaged
Dissapointed in humminbird and amazon.. I was mortified when my son opened the package on christmas to see the wires pulled out of transducer and even a broken wire...protective film was all dirty and grimmy and linty and same with cord. It looks as thou I should have read reviews here before I purchased as there are plenty of ppl that seem to have the same issues. Don't buy from here.

It works
It fits my Humminbird Helix 5 as per instructions and it has worked multiple times when ice fishing this winter. The only issue would be cosmetic, the humminbird sticker comes off the foam that keep the transducer afloat, but that does not affect my rating.
