Beginner D'nealian
I did not know people were still teaching D'nealian, so for my child's kindergarten class, I needed to find some workbooks for her to practice while distance learning. The last time I used D'nealian was about 30 years ago when I was in kindergarten. This book was a hard, but a great find. Not many materials available for D'nealian handwriting, but this workbook is far better than the plain brown page books that I remember using. Truly a great find even if I had to buy used. The content in the book I think is best for TK-K.

Paper is a bit thin, so if they work on both sides, as they should, there is a bit of visual interference from the backside of the page.

Great way to learn to write D'Nealian
I purchased this book to supplement my kindergartener's homework. His school teaches the D'Nealian style of writing. This workbook comes with a set of removable flashcards that teach the proper way to write the letters. Each page has a letter or number associated with it. There is not a lot of tracing practice. There is an opportunity to trace an upper case and lower case letter and then the rest of the page is filled with lines for practicing. This is exactly what I was looking for as I wanted my son to learn to write on his own. There are several lines--at least 8-10, to allow for plenty of practice. There is a coloring page for each letter. It has pictures of words that start with the accompanying letter. The pictures are quite cute. In general, this is a wonderful supplemental workbook.

Overpriced Coloring Book with a nice pull out section...
My favorite part of this book is the pullout middle section that shows the example of how to make each letter. This book could be improved by including rows of traceable letters. This seems to be made for someone who already knows the print. In which case, you wouldn't need this book. We haven't used anything besides the pull out and it will likely become more of a coloring book than anyone else. If you want to find a useful resource for teaching your child D'Nealian, there are FREE PRINTABLES that you can find and print. I printed the entire alphabet and I love the format. Look on Pinterest!

Probably better off sticking with Foresman materials
This was really not what I thought I was ordering. The only "instruction" is "Write the letter, then the word!" I guess I was expecting a format where students trace a solid letter, then dotted letter, then write their own with a guided starting dot, then fully on their own. This really just has the letter, then several words beginning with that letter, (and I suppose I should add as a bonus that there is ample room for practice, with lots of blank lines), and a huge full-page picture to color that goes along with an alliterative rhyme for each letter. Also has a section of tear-apart cards with each letter and number, but I'm not sure what purpose they are intended to serve, as they don't appear to be dry-erasable. This would perhaps be a good supplement to writing practice, or something fun for a child who just really loves copywork, but it was not what I was hoping for or expecting, and I will be returning it.
