My kimchi came out bad but that's on me! As a fermented food, it's important for the kimchi to have access to air. It's heavy when it's done, too. So this container has a very sturdy latch and handle, but leaves room to breathe. The recipes I looked at encourage the cook to squish the kimchi down from time to time to get the bubbles out, and the thingy on top helps with that. I also made kimchi fried rice (this hid my sins and still tasted outstanding) and that calls for kimchi juice, like a lot of other Korean recipes. The grate also helps for pouring kimchi juice when you want it. You wouldn't want it for anything but kimchi, but for kimchi you wouldn't want anything else but this or a purpose-made clay onggi. Other sizes are available.

This is my second one, because it works so well. I use mine for kimchi and kraut, and strongly prefer it to other fermentation options.

This sealed very well bit the divider did not stay put. Kept falling in. All in all I like it

Always in use! We make sour Kraut and the size works great for the amount we need!

It works great if you’re making a small batch but it’s made of plastic and we are trying not to use it anymore, so I’ll probably not keep it and use a rock of something else.

For how expensive this is, it’s not worth it. We had a similar one but the pressure part was missing, so we thought we get a whole new one. Because it was so expensive we thought the quality must be good. They can’t call it LockandLock leakproof Airtight etc and the moment you flip it all liquids flow out, doesn’t make sense. We make kimchi and you have far better ones to actually keep it closed . Very disappointing

Ich mache kimchi und lasse es darin fermentieren. Es funktioniert sehr gut damit.

Ein toller Behälter für Kimchi: Durch die Zwischenebene kann man den Kohl gut nach unten drücken und die Flüssigkeit deckt alles ab. Dadurch kann der Kohl gut fermentieren ohne schlecht zu werden / zu schimmeln. Ich bekomme ca. zwei größere Chinakohl rein. Wichtig zu wissen ist, dass das Plastik nach einer gewissen Zeit natürlich den Geruch annimmt. Heißt, ich kann die Box jetzt nur noch ausschließlich für Kimchi verwenden.

I love that is is clear and I can see inside. I think this is my favorite to make kimchi in.
