Snake grabber deluxe
Gentle Giant 40" Snake Tong Snakes keep getting into our chicken coop. My husband hates to kill them and would prefer to remove them. But if you touch them it leaves a major stink on you that won't wash off. Plus once in a while we get rattle snakes on our place that need to be removed and he definitely does not want to touch one of those. So I surprised him with this reptile tongs for Christmas. So far we haven't had a snake to test them on. He and my son can not wait for another snake to invade our coop or yard. Snake beware. These appear to be very sturdy. The trigger is easy to use and can be used gently or firmly. It appears to be able to pick up a small or large snake. I worried about what length to purchase but this looks like the right length for average snakes. Probably if you handle large poisonous snakes you might want a longer one, but what do I know.

Haven't used it yet
We have many snakes around our home and my daughter purchased a snake grabber for me last year which had a different tip on it. It is wider and I wrapped it in coban to make the surface area rougher, but the snakes can still slither out from it. It is longer than this one also. My husband ordered this shorter one with a different tip. It is narrower and hopefully it will do a better job at restraining the snakes to move them away from the hen house. I have not had a snake back to try it on but it is made well and I am hopeful that it will do a better job than the one I have already.

Need a bit more truth in labeling/advertizing!
These are advertized on Amazon as being "40" Snake Tongs by Midwest".Midwest Tongs is a name brand manufacturer of quality Snake Tongs. For decades, snake handlers both amateur and pro have been familiar with these well known blue and silver tools of the trade. When I received these tongs however, I immediately noticed that they are NOT Midwest Tongs, but are knock-offs. The "Midwest" brand that these are is not the same and advertizing them as being "By Midwest" is more than a little deceptive. I can only surmize that the outfit that made these Tongs chose both the name "Midwest" and the blue and silver anodizing on the product itself to dupe people like me into thinking these are real "Midwest Tongs", which they are not. That aside, the tongs work fine for an amateur like me and are of adequate (though not stellar) fit and finish. If I had it all to do over again I'd pay better attention, spend an additional $10 or $20 and get the real Midwest Tongs.

I really like these. They have been used for their intended purpose within a week in northern colorado. But they have also come in handy for grabbing things in places you don't really want to reach into.

As promised
Haven't had to use for a snake yet, but the equipment is made well, light weight, and easy to handle.
