GarageDoorBuddy Monitor - Monitor Your Garage Doors from Anywhere (Not for controlling the garage door)

I have left my garage door open a few times and that will be happening no more. The shipping box comes with few instructions except to load the app. Once loaded, the app itself has most of the setup instructions needed. There could have been more instructions on using the app and the menu, but playing with the monitor device and app on the kitchen table makes it easy enough to figure out how it works. One note of caution. When the app is clicked on and the notification parameters are being set up, notification via the ring tone will not work properly until one gets totally out of the app! It took me quite a while to figure that out.For me, the app does everything I want it to and is simple to use. The sticky tape on the back of the device wouldn't have stuck to my insulated garage door. So I just cut a square hole in a 3/4 inch board to recess the device, screwed the board to my door, and used some mini bungee cords to hold the device in.12/29/2022 I have had the device for a few months now and absolutely love it. No more driving down the road and asking the spouse if we closed the garage door. No need to set up a complete security system with a complicated home security network. No more getting sidetracked and leaving the garage door open.Just as an FYI the sensor seems to flip from closed to open status when the top panel is at about 45 degrees. See picture. With my four-panel door, the bottom panel is 20 inches off the floor at that point.

I am 67 years old and I frequently forget to close my garage door. I've left it open all night a few times. Other times my neighbors across the street have called me late at night to say, "You left your garage door open." It's a BIG issue down here in the desert southwest where rattlesnakes, gila monsters, packrats, and javelinas roam at night. So, I purchased the Garage Door Buddy - and I can honestly say I have never left the garage door open since! Installing the device was easy. You put the batteries in, then stick it to the garage door per the instructions. The sensor detects whether the module us in the upright / vertical (closed garage door) or flat / horizontal (open garage door) position. I just downloaded the app from the Google Play Store and installed it on my Android cell phone. I did have one minor glitch during installation. I had been using my 5GHz wifi connection - but had to select my 2.4GHz wifi signal instead. The Garage Buddy instructions are clear about this. You must use a 2.4GHz wifi signal. It will not work on 5GHz. Once I had it properly set up, it works perfectly. I set up a reminder every ten minutes when I've left the door open. I changed my reminder ring tone to a unique sound, so I recognize it's the garage reminder. Yesterday I drove over to a friend's house and accidentally left the garage door open. The sensor signaled my wifi, then informed me via my cellular data connection that I'd left it open. This thing is the best invention since sliced bread! No critters - and nothing stolen from my garage! My homeowners insurance should give me a discount on my premiums after buying and installing the Garage Buddy.

First off let me say that this product is a huge help to me.I live in an apartment complex where we all have small garages under our apartment.Although the area is safe, there are incidents of things getting stolen from garages, and even incidents of garages being broken into. Since I can't see my garage from my window, this gives me peace of mind and I can always make sure I didn't leave the garage open.Setup is simple and the app is highly responsive. It will pretty much notify you immediately as soon as the garage begins to open. You can also set the app to remind you that the garage is open at regular intervals (1 to 60 minutes). Also the app will keep a log of records of when the garage was opened or closed. Unfortunately, the app only keeps the last 10 records and automatically deletes everything beyond that, so it's not good if you want to be able to keep tabs on a space and go back and review the records. I was going to get one for my business too but opted for a camera instead due to this reason.

This monitor does what it says: once installed on the inside of your garage door and connected to your wifi network, it sends messages to your mobile device as to the door's status. If you forget to close your door, after a programmable time the app will notify you of the door's open status. If desired you can then close it. A simple concept but really handy. Since it's connected to the internet you can check door status from anywhere, a really good thing if you've left your house and suddenly can't remember if you closed the door(s)!I had one of my monitors (I have two) fail recently and I wasn't sure what do to, so I contacted the GarageDoorBuddys and within minutes of my initial email we were troubleshooting the problem via email. Ultimately it was determined I had a bad unit. I fully expected to be told "it's out of warranty, you'll have to purchase another one," since I'd bought it from Amazon back in the fall of 2019, but the Buddys instead said they'd ship me a new one, which they did, and that one is now working perfectly. You can't ask for a more responsive and cheerful support organization as this one is! You can feel confident that they will stand behind their products. I can't recommend them strongly enough!

I needed a minder for my garage door. You know when you do something every day you kind of loose track about what you did. This was me. Sometimes I’d leave or think I’d leave the garage door open, only to find out after walking back out to a darkened alleyway it was closed. This device works great! I can even pick up a signal from around my apartment building. At first, my router didn’t recognize the device and I emailed tech support around 5 or 6 pm. I had troubles and they replied a little while later. I went back and tried the fix but it didn’t work. I’m a late night kind of guy, so I emailed them at 11:30 pm and I still got tech support. What company emails their customer at 11:30 pm? They did. Now it’s working fine and get a signal when my garage door is opened and when it’s closed. The WiFi signal is not great, but it works. I often forget to close my garage and not being able to see the front of the garage from inside the house I was never sure if I closed it or not. This product has been fantastic. It works every time and I can see on my phone if the garage door is closed. I've also set a recurring notification on my phone to warn me every 10 minutes if the door is open. The installation was a breeze. I have used this for about 4 months now and can't recommend it highly enough.
