A Sucky Love Story: Overcoming Unhappily Ever After

First half of this book was awful, the middle becomes tolerable, the last half blows your minds.In the beginning, I couldn't stand Brittani as person in the book(She was like Fifty Shades main girl annoying). Between having the first few chapters oversaturated with drooling over men's appearances, and, at times, it felt like Brittani was the problem herself or escalated the situation by overreacting. (Not every situation was Brittani, Milos definitely had alot of red flags.)Midway in, it just felt like both parties were mentally unstable and causing the other to worsen as their state got worse. And you just really wanted both them to get help.Then the can of worms opens. And its absolutely insane and almost unbelieve if it hadn't made so much sense. And worth reading to find out yourself.(and honestly you need the full story to understand it all)As annoying as it started, it definitely was an interesting read.

Cons:This book in incredibly poorly written. It needed a stronger editor's hand.Pros:After the first few chapters I didn't care, and read the entire thing in one night. I started watching Brittani's videos with her engagement reveal, and am shocked that everything in this book happened to her. It is relatable and scary and I just want to give her a hug and tell her that there are decent people in the world.

I know to others it might seem unbelievable as to why anyone would believe such exaggerated lies, but what people do not know is that these types of people are so unbelievably convincing, even when you grow suspicious, they always find some convincing lie.I have been in a verbally, mentally, and physically abusive relationship for two years and finally got out of it less than a month ago. While we visited my mother for the holidays, the day after Christmas I was working at 5am and he decided to break my MacBook bc I wouldn't take him to the gym since I was in the middle of working. My mom happened to forget to turn off the inside cameras that morning and caught the whole thing on video. She threw him out and I haven't seen or spoken to him since.Unfortunately, since I lived with him back in the state we lived in, I lost all of my belongings as I have been advised to not contact him at all. Like Brittani, I had recorded accounts of his abuse on the voice memo app. I never listened to any of them until we finally separated. Listening to them broke my heart. From the time he threatened to stab me with a knife, to the time he locked me in a closet for 5 hours bc I was going to leave him, and to the most heartbreaking time when he actually almost killed me by putting a pillow over my face bc I was crying too loud after he kicked me on my leg and he thought the neighbors would hear.Most people wonder why do people like us stay? You have to understand, it's literally like going through Stockholm syndrome. They torture you and then right after apologize and show you so much love. They become your savior and torturer and psychologically the chemicals in your brain bonds you to them and it becomes addictive. Think of it as unfortunately being a heroin addict. You know it's eventually going to kill you but those few moments of heaven and happiness are intoxicating.I thank you Brittani so much for your story. I feel such shame after coming out of this abusive and toxic relationship and if feels so comforting to hear your story and not be alone. Especially the virginity part. I also gave my abuser my virginity and it's painful to think that I'll have the memory that my first was with such a horrible person.I hope our tales help any woman or man in abusive situations to please trust your instincts and get out. I know it'll be painful. Believe me bc I'm in pain, but I know with time I will get better and recognize I made the right decision.Sorry for the long winded review, but this book has truly been helpful during my healing process!

First of all, I loved her story and I found Brittani's enduring devotion to her son to be nothing but inspiring. I really think this book deserved an editor, because it's obvious that an author/trained writer did not write this, distracting me from the immersion into her interesting story. I felt as if I was reading an email sent by a friend that was along the lines of, "You'll NEVER guess what happened to me!"Which I didn't...not at all. But I would have loved to have experienced her story through the prose of someone more experienced. Not through a ghost writer, just with the collective efforts of Taylor and a team of editors and publishers.

After following Brittani for years and watching as her new relationship unfolded then dissipated, not once did I think as a viewer that she had gone through a shred of what she has outlined here in her book. Because of her personality and devotion to protect her son and family, her story about what truly happened in the relationship is shocking.This book pulls at your emotions as you travel with Brittani through every event, character and court case.Her resilience is outstanding and her strength that she has to write this book is both empowering and inspirational. Her story is unique but not uncommon and her telling of it brings further awareness to how prevalent DV is in society.Thank you Brittani for telling us your story, your bravery and heart can be seen in every page as this book is such an important read for us survivors and for others to bring awareness and show that a situation can get better.

I read this book for research. I’m not a big reader. This is third of 9 I’m reading. The first two I was bored with halfway through. I read this book in a single night because I needed to know the end!! This was so similar (but less extreme) to something that happened to me, it was a very painful read and left me with tears streaming.At 45 I advise any female of dating age to read this and take on the lessons. Ignoring those red flags have cost me thousands, a career and also ‘holding the baby’. Thank you for sharing because I know how horrifically hard this must have been to put this on public display. I picked this up on the day of the release and didn’t put it down until I finished it. Sucks it came out during finals week because work was put on hold! The story is incredible and I cannot wrap my head around all the mess that went on for months. I used to watch Brittani in middle school but found her channel again when she posted her video talking about her engagement and pregnancy. It’s absolutely insane to me to think of the hell she had to go through while we were watching her videos thinking her life is a dream. I love this book and I love Brittani and Rex is so so lucky to have such a strong and loving woman as a mom (and such an incredible grandma too!)

I couldn’t put this book down as I was captivated by the plot twists and turns that each page unveiled. It shows how a modern love story can quickly become a worst nightmare. Not only that, but it teaches that within these horrible and traumatic experiences, it will bring moments of utter strength and empowerment. This book is going to change lives. It’s teaches to find the strength and power to fight for the truth and justice. Shares messages of trusting your gut and speaking up when things become difficult. Brittani, I have followed you for years and I am touched by your story. Your son has a awesome and inspirational mother. He will admire one day, the strength and ability that you had to fight. I am thankful for your sharing of your story and I know that it will change my life.

I think I'm in a minority of readers who bought this book having never heard of Brittani Taylor before. Having gone through a rough break up myself, the synopsis and the title caught my attention and I downloaded it. To anybody unaware of the author's story, this book is actually a lot darker (ie. grooming, domestic violence, a close call with human trafficking with her and her baby - oh my goodness) than the average dating horror stories you read about. From what I can gather, writing this book was the only way Brittani could legally tell people the full details of what she's been through, good on her! For this reason I think the author can be forgiven for having nonprofessional writing skills, I'm truly horrified at what this woman has been put through by her ex and I'm so glad she and her baby son are now safe. It's an important book that serves as a warning to the Tinder generation, we all need to be careful and not ignore any red flags or bad feelings when it comes to dating.

This is a story that the world should know and I’m just so proud of her. Overcoming everything and coming out on top.

What an incredible woman, I have been a fan of brittani since I saw her on a very old parody video on shane channel. The story is so chilling but worth every second. She is truely a survivor and a role model to look up to. Thanks for sharing your story with us. Everyone young girl, woman needs to read this book. It's shocking the kind of monsters lurk in our world. Wishing her and her son all the happiness for the future

This book is an incredible example of a kick ass woman, the trials and tribulations of domestic abuse and ultimately an uplifting story about defending yourself, doing what is best for your family and not backing down. The depth of the suffering Brittani went through is horrifying, but testament to her strength as a woman. Brittani managed to be witty and light-hearted while not detracting from the seriousness of the events, making this a riveting read.

So this is clearly a book from a first time writer, no doubt. It had little errors here and there and from the tone of it you can tell its a little hectic and jumbled.But there's an honesty in it; a raw, unfiltered honesty that I adore. Her heart is speaking this emotional and crazy story and you get pulled along by every word until the bittersweet ending by this naive, sweet, kind character.Its a stunning, page turning, caring cautionary tale and I couldn't put it down.

I had planned to start this book to read through slowly in my spare time... I sat and read it in one sitting, totally unable to put it down. Brittani has been through so much, and to come out the other side with her head held high is incredible. I hope this book gets as much recognition and praise as it deserves, and helps others to break free of their own bad situations.

Never watched her YouTube videos but heard her being interviewed and let's just say I was intrigued! What an insane, life is crazier than fiction story. And she seems to have handled it all so well. Quick read that I couldn't put down.

This strikes the reader in the gut, this account of the author's deeply distressing relationship and all the struggles she faced to get to a safe place for herself and her child is emotionally taxing. You feel Brittani's confusion, fear and hurt on a deep level as she fights for freedom and survival- a must read, that could potentially wake up those in a similar position. Brittani is a brave survivor.

I have finished this book in one sitting. I can not believe Britanni went through all this and is still here to tell the tale. You are an absolute inspiration and a fighter! Rex is going to be so proud of you when he is old enough to understand, he has the best mum and grandma any little boy could ask for. Would definitely recommend reading this as I believe this is a story that MOST DEFINITELY deserves to be heard.

Such a personal story and everything felt so real and believable - can’t believe what she went through and the amount of emotional torture she endured. Strongest woman!!

The ordeals this unbelievably strong woman has had to go through, which she documents in this book, are horrific and downright unbelievable at times. But her determination to free herself and her son from such a terrible situation, and to tell her story on her own terms, is so inspiring. Brittani, you deserve all the happiness and love this world can offer, I’m so glad you finally get to share your story with the world.
