The Vivarium Electronics VE-100 Thermostat is our recommendation for an economical, yet effective and reliable control of heating your snake’s habitat. The VE-100 can handle up to 700 watts and operates as an on/off style thermostat. When the set temperature is exceeded and detected by the probe, the unit turns “off”. Once the temperature drops a selected amount, the unit will turn your heating device back “on”. While this unit is safe, effective and reliable, we also offer and recommend the VE-300 which can also handle up to 700 watts and is able to operate as an on/off style thermostat OR as a proportional style thermostat; plus a few extra features. Both of these thermostats work great with our Reptile Basics Radiant Heat Panels for snake habitats.

using this as a backup on/off thermostat to a VE-200.
If you’re using this as a backup to a VE-200, be sure to set them probe max temp about 5 degrees different or the 200 will keep shutting off. I know this is a specific review but figured I would save anyone the trouble if they were doing the same thing and having issues! customer service was great helping me figure it out. using on a 7 bin closed snake rack with large vision tubs in a finished basement that stays about 65 and it does a great job of keeping everything in the rack consistently at 90 where we have it set.

Awesome product, great value.
Arrived packed very well. Easy to hook up. Have 2, one heating 2 racks, 10 units and one heating a wall display with 5 units. Works great.

Works mostly as advertised get the better version!
Highly recommend these products, however the descriptions of the different types are mostly the same and was hard to make sure I was getting the one I wanted. I will have to upgrade this to the one that does day and night all in one unit in the future!
