I bought this for my Nephew (who still lives with his Mum) as he had no way of playing his CDs (so many kids these days seem happy with just an iPhone and some earbuds. When I left college way back in the late eighties, my first pay check went towards a big stack system that was all the rage back then!). He has this in his bedroom and is super happy with it (I gave him some additional QED speaker cable that I had previously used with my Naim setup as this was better than the supplied cables). The sound is exceptional for something at this price point. It’s easy to use, and he’s even connected it to his TV via HDMI to use as a soundbar (although to be fair, he mainly uses his TV with his Xbox and a headset but does play the occasional Blu-ray movie).

I love the sound and easy set up, compact good quality build for a budget system.

We wanted to make a modern version of an old hifi setup, who knew how difficult it was going to be as not all units allow turntable connection. We investigated and didn't want to spend loads of money on separates. We saw this unit in a high street store and it had all the connection sockets needed to complete our required setup. You can connect a turntable via cables and add additional speakers. It only comes with a wire DAB aerial but it works perfectly well. The supplied speakers are really good but we are adding more. I'm impressed small but perfectly adequate.

Love it. The sound quality is superb.If I had to knock it on anything it would be that if you are watching a video linked to the Denon with Bluetooth, the audio and video is not in sync. I assume this is likely due to audio processing taking place, but it's not great to watch a video of a musical performance where the audio/video is out of sync.

At first this was a great product; good sound quality, neat and unobtrusive looks and good facilities. Then, 14 months after purchasing, the unit developed an issue with the headphone connection; namely distortion/noise through the right hand channel. After contacting Denon support and conducting all the diagnostic tests they suggested, i.e. trying other headphones; is it same on all inputs etc etc I was told I need to contact the retailer. So using Amazon I located my original order and clicked on Product Support, only to be re-directed to Denon's support desk! Denon insist if I want a repair then I need to go via Amazon. I managed to speak to someone at Amazon and was offered a refund for the price paid which I accepted.

The construction of this unit seems very good, reassuringly weighty, assembly is a breeze, setup easy.I am struggling to get the tone set how like it though, my old Panasonic seems to be better in this respect when it just had an old fashioned tone knob, the Denon you have to play with the SDB Tone function and try the speaker bungs in or out, I will get there no doubt but it's a bit of a phaf, having said that Analog in from a turntable sounds very good, I listen to anything from Choral classics to Led Zeppelin so this may make it a little more problematic having such a wide taste in music, I wish it had pre-set faders to enable switching between music styles.The aerial isn't very long as is the speaker cables I can only manage to get a 4ft separation of speakers where my unit is so factor in you may have to extend the cables to get a decent stereo separation I am going to extend both.Please don't be put off with this review, it is a good machine for the price point, I don't think you will be disappointed if you pay £299 - at £399 well then perhaps there is better, maybe, maybe not.

Changed my old audio kit which was 21 years old for the Denon D-M41DAB/CD amplifier and speakers with the addition of the Denon DP400 turntable. Have to say this is fabulous kit, clean sound with terrific separation of instruments - heard things I'd never heard before!Easy to assemble, excellent quality and simple to set up. Haven't tried the Bluetooth link for music from my phone and iPad yet, but sure this will be equally as good. DAB/DAB+ is clear as a bell, but I do use an external aerial. Couldn't be more pleased, highly recommended. If only the price of vinyl records would come down!
