New American Bible: Revised New Testament, Catholic Edition

I read a few comments and saw at least one other person had the same experience as me with their copy. I was missing some books and chapters - specifically Titus, Philemon, and Hebrews 1-4 were missing among 2 discs. I contacted Oasis Audio, and Toni (one of their service reps) went above and beyond in correcting the issues. I must rate 5 stars just for the customer service alone. They really are great.As far as the audio, you have a choice between Buck Ford (this version, audio ISBN: 978-1598590036) and Stephen Johnston (audio ISBN: 978-1598563672). Though I enjoy several of Stephen Johnston's bible narrations (KJV, NKJV, NASB), I favor the NAB with Buck Ford. He speaks a bit slower and with more pauses and a dynamic tone.Out of the two (excluding the ones made by amateur narrators) available versions of the NAB audio bible, I favor "New American Bible: Revised New Testament Catholic Edition" narrated by Buck Ford.

What would be real nice is if ALL the books of the New Testament would actually be on the cd which they are not. It is missing 23 of the books of the New Testament so I am giving this purchase a poor rating because not only are the books missing but no where does it alert the buyer that those 23 books are NOT on the cd. I CERTAINLY didn't and still don't see anything about that on the product subscription. I am deeply dissatisfied with my purchase for that reason.

I don't normally buy Audible books but thought I would try this one. I hate the way it is set up. I went to pick a chapter and it does not give the names of the books. I looked to see if there was a way to get this refunded but I don't see it. If you are looking for an audible bible where you can pick what you want to listen to, then this is not for you.

I'm not Catholic, but I recognize that this is an outstanding Bible for both study and devotions. The NAB is a solid, accurate, accessible translation, and this edition has study notes and cross references after the text of the book, which I think is a much less distracting way of presenting study notes. Other study bibles have the notes, references, etc., on the same page, and it's easy to just read the on-page notes rather than the Word itself. This edition, though, has a multitude of well-thought-out commentary notes neatly arranged, by verse, after the book in its entirety; beyond that is an exhaustive list or guide to every incidence of that particular phrase in Scripture. The leather binding is superb (probably Smyth-sewn), the indexed pages helpful, the type size perfect, and the overall size, "heft," portability, durability, and style of this bible is simply a preview to an outstanding translation with outstanding textual notes. As a Protestant and 31-year disciple of Christ Jesus, I can say confidently that this is my favorite, most used overall preaching and every-day bible. Trust me -- if you end up not reading the Word every day, it's not because of any flaws in the design or functionality of this edition. Truly impressive and well worth the cost.

I cannot get this to play on my portable cd player. That was the main reason I purchased. To listen when I walkedon the treadmill at the Y. It also does not play on the CD player in my kitchen.I've tried books on cd from the library, they all play just fine.....This Bible MP3 will not.Can I return for credit ?

A few years ago I purchased the Oxford New American Bible. As I was raised Protestant (Baptist, now secular humanist for over 20 years), I had not been exposed to much Roman Catholicism. The regular edition of the NAB has a beautiful color section with the RCC prayers at the beginning. At the end it has an essay titled "The Bible in the Liturgy" and tables of liturgical readings. It is a nice size, but the font was just way too small for me.I looked forward to the large print edition. But I was disappointed that it did not have the RCC prayers or the liturgy section. Also, the print is actually larger than needed, and this makes the Bible a bit heavy to handle.Overall, I really like the large print Oxford NAB; I prefer it to the regular edition. But I do wish it had the extras and that the type was not SO large and the book not so heavy.As always with Oxford bibles, the binding is top quality. Sewn signatures, quality paper, etc. If you are young and have great vision, I'd get the regular NAB, but if small print gives you a headache, you'll love the large print NAB.

Exactly what I wanted for the long trips I make from York, PA, to the Pocono's, Chicago area, and Mississippi. I never read the bible, this is the way to hear it in it's entirety.

An amazing edition! My wife's medical condition has changed over the past few years. Type 2 Diabetes has given her some vision problems and not being able read has really dampened her spirit. Reading the Bible to her was wonderful but for her and I to be able to listen to the word via an audio cd has been a blessing.Although early onset Alzheimer's has been her biggest challenge, her faith and LOVE in Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has blessed her 10 fold.We recomend this collection to everyone who accepts God and all that He has giving to us.

This is my first Audio Bible purchase. I have been listening to it daily while driving to/from work ever since I received it. I have to say that I am more than satisfied!The narrator has a great and very soothing voice, with a little drama here and there, It brings the New Testament alive!Not only that has it help me to get a better understanding of the bible, it has been a great tool in delivering God's messages to my little kids (while driving them to school). I believe it has a profound effect on their belief in God. Highly recommended!
