Layer 8 Women's Knit and Woven Quick Dry Two in One Running Yoga Work Out Short with Compression Shorts Underneath

Regular shorts are the enemy for people like me with thunder thighs. I always had a problem shorts riding up on me while running/walking, causing chafing and other gross feelings. These shorts help prevent that. The top layer does rise up a little but the compression layer stays put!! No more chafing and now can run with shorts and no problem. This review is for the shorts WITHOUT the drawstring waist in this listing. I originally found a pair of these Layer 8 shorts at TJMaxx in the bright orange color. I loved them so much that I kept going back to see if they, or Marshall's, would get more colors in stock. I am so glad I decided to look on Amazon for these! The gray and black were just delivered and the fit is exactly as the orange ones that I already had. I love the fact that the compression shorts underneath don't ride up and the top layer of shorts doesn't get caught between my legs. The waist band is nice and wide and lays flat on my stomach. For reference, I am about 5'2" and 115lbs and the size small is perfect. I wish there was a little interior slip for my car key, but I just cut a tiny slit into the inside of the waistband and slip my key in there. I've done this with other athletic wear and it works great.

So these are the second pair I own. They are almost as good as my New Balance 2 in 1 shorts. I wear these to workout - weights and cardio classes. So the color is nice. Fabric is light weight and it has pockets. The first pair I owned did not have pockets - the blue pair. It also did not have a drawstring which I really like in this one. It has an actual functional drawstring and not just for appearances. I feel like the fit is true. If you like looser shorts and not form fitting in the compression then I would get the medium. I went for the small this time because I wanted to see what the difference was. That’s where I see the fit. The outer part of the short is loose but compression is tight. I’m going to get the grey pair next. Also these shorts are not too short for a mom of 3 little ones. Really exceeded my expectations!

These running shorts are fantastic - fit perfectly, comfortable material, and don’t ride up as I run. If you’re like me - curvy with hips, big butt and thighs - you’ll love them. Probably will buy in another color.

Ordering and color issues:I ordered a pair of these Layer 8 woven quick dry 2 in 1 running shorts in color: True Blue/Black Iris-Knit. I was sent a pair of Black Iris/True Blue-Knit. You can see where the confusion happened... I totally understood and called customer service because I didn't want to simply return and reorder and get another pair of "navy" shorts when I was wanting "turquoise." The representative said that he was sending a replacement pair and that I could send the srong ones back. Well they sent the SAME pair again.Fit and comfort:I am 5'5" 170 lbs (pear shape). If you are tall and slender, then these will likely fit you better/differently. On me, the Large is bit snug and I wear a Med-Lg in all other bottoms ( size 10-12 for reference). They feel nice and silky and are VERY lightweight and I love that. Keep in mind that the sides are slit so you can see the compression shorts hugging all of your curves and I don't love that. The compression shorts underneath are pretty snug, but that may be because of the sizing, not design. Also, I find that these are a tad too short, if I'm being picky.So with the color mix up mentioned above, I do have a pair of these, however, I ordered some Riboom 2 in 1 shorts, and then I ordered 2 more pairs. They are a little longer, but not too long, a little less snug, but not baggy, and they are more flattering on me all around.

I love these shorts. I’m always skeptical when ordering clothes online but I’m happy I got these. For reference, I’m 5’5 and 130 pounds and I ordered a medium. My lower waist (below the belly button) measures 32 inches, my upper waist is 28 inches, and my hips are 40 inches (that booty though). I haven’t taken them for a run yet but they seem fine. They are definitely comfortable for lounging or wearing out and about. I also love that they don’t cut into my waist area creating a muffin top.

Great for running, but they still ride up in the front when running. I like the ribboom brand more.
