Art of Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind

This is an amazingly well thought art book, incredible print, paper and cover quality, this "Art of" series gives a very insightful perspective of thought process and art direction of Mitsuki Nakamura and Hayao Miyazaki, this is an amazing gift for aspiring artists and Studio Ghibli fans alike.

Bought this for a friends B-Day and she loved its it arrived in pristine condition and got here the next day

Got it for my best friend of 7 years for a holiday present, arrived in perfect condition and she loved it.

A few years ago I went on a Miyazaki art book kick and got all of the VIZ editions. At the time, Nausicaä was oddly absent, but in its place was the collected manga and a larger Watercolor Impressions book that didn't 'match' the dimensions and presentation of the other 'Art of' books. Well this year it was finally rectified and we have the Art of Nausicaä proper. As with the other books, this is a collection of the pre-movie conceptualized sketches and art as well as some final cells from the anime feature. The paper is relatively heavy, glossy and attractive like the others in the series (note the Watercolor Impressions book is heavier stock but matte vs. glossy). There's about 20 pages worth of explanations of the special effects employed in the movie and further editorial stories from the serialization of the manga. A great book all told, recommended! (j4.)

This is a beloved Christmas gift. It is literally stills from the movie (to my knowledge currently available on Max or Netflix). Had I known it was still shots I may not have ordered...so I'm glad I didn't know in advance...what we do for the ones we love. It really is lovely and appreciated.

I have bought most of the “art of…” books about Miyazaki’s films and they are all wonderful. I love seeing so much of the behind the scenes of these films I’ve enjoyed. There is an abundance of quality pictures from every stage (pencil sketches all the way to finished still from the movies). I look at this book all the time for painting and drawing inspiration. I highly recommend if you are a fan of Miyazaki or animation.
