Flavor Name:Dark Roast (Espresso)  |  Size:5 pounds Whole Beans Lima, Oct. 12 (ANDINA). The town of Naranjas, located in Peru’s northern Andean region of Cajamarca, produces one of the best coffees in the world due to its aroma, flavor and quality, reported US satellite and cable television business news channel CNBC. Sunshine in your cup, grown by farmers of the APPROCASSI Fair Trade Group from Cajamarca province in Peru. Which means you’re not just getting an excellent coffee, you’re supporting sustainable farming, too. The coffee crop is cultivated in between trees so it is shielded completely from the sun. The Peruvian coffee is grown completely in shade. The beans are picked over a period of five months, i.e. May to September by hand. The next step, pulping, is also done by hand after which the beans are stored in huge fermentation tanks which helps in cleaning them. Lastly, the coffee beans are transported to the market where about 80 percent is exported. The farms where the coffee is grown are small, about 2-3 acres each where the farmers work hard to uphold the amazing quality of the crop using exclusively indigenous methods. Each farm is equipped with a micro-wet milling system which is yet another effort to keep Peru free form any type of chemical pollution. Full City Plus, a few snaps into 2nd crack, was nice, chocolaty, but more one-dimensional. The wet aroma has heather-like flowers. At that magical roast level, at City Plus, the cup has a fantastic milky chocolate, almonds, coconut. It's like a candy bar! There is a muted, clean fruit flavor; Bosc Pear, turning to milk chocolate in the finish, with bittering hints of almond skins. Roast Type: Light, City Plus to Medium Roast, Full City Plus

The Very Best in the World!!! 5 A+ Gold Stars
The Very Best Coffee I have ever purchased!I have found that roasting this in 3 small batches, at different time intervals and the grinding the beans and blending the 3 Roasts, brings out a magnificent flavor, aroma and quality.I roast three, equal amounts of beans at 9 minutes, 11 minutes & 13 minutes.I have used both my AirPop Popcorn popper and my Stove Top Popcorn Popper for Roasting. Both produce outstanding results. This process produces a very smooth, delicious, cup of Heavenly Coffee. No need to add Cream or Sweetener. If you do, try a little 100% Organic Real Maple Syrup and Grass Fed 1/2 & 1/2.Absolutely Scrumptious! This Roasting also produces an excellent Espresso!!!I quit buying coffee at any coffeehouse! This one is Superior to them all!My friends and family all agree!!!

Perfect coffee in every way
Smells great, aromas of chocolate stand out. It tastes great. I lack the language to adequately describe the deliciousness of this coffee, but it's damn good. It's spoiled me so that when I'm out and drink other coffees, I wish I was drinking this.A major motivation for me to try this coffee is that it is one of the only Bird Friendly certified coffees on Amazon*. This is the strictest certification for shade-grown coffee, given by the Audubon Society. This certification ensures the coffee growing is good for the environment and the coffee growers. This is a winning combination! I highly recommend it, and will be buying this again for myself.Edit: I remember this being "Bird Friendly" certified when I bought it in March, but it appears it no longer is. Doesn't mean it's not shade grown, just that it's not certified any more.

Smooth and rich with chocolate flavors in a light roast
This is one of three coffees I have ordered from RhodesRoast so far (the others being light roast Guatemalan and Bali Blue Moon). This is my favorite of the three coffees I have tried so far. This Peruvian coffee in a light roast has such a smooth but rich flavor, with strong hints of chocolate. To me it's almost between a hot chocolate and coffee when you add stevia and milk! The beans also arrived fresh and oil free, shipped directly from RhodesRoast; which has not always been the case when I have ordered "fresh roasted" beans from other companies on Amazon. I can strongly recommend this coffee and company! I will definitely be buying more from them!

I love this in dark roast!!
I like to taste my coffee, and this fits the bill in dark roast. Oh wow. I thought I'd had good coffees before..... this is just a little taste of heaven, in one of the cleanest coffees around. Shade-grown means the growers are much less likely to "cheat" and use herbicides or pesticides. And you can TASTE the difference. Now I prepare this using a Gator pour-over coffee maker with an unbleached filter (to avoid any nasty dioxins), and I can honestly say I've never had finer coffee in my life. I just ordered bag #2.

Worst coffee I've ever bought
I purchased this based on reviews - perhaps I got a bad batch. It has no flavor whatsoever. It doesn't even smell like coffee. I enjoy a light roast for the subtle coffee flavors this brings out. We felt like we were drinking colored water. We've mixed it with other beans so as not to waste it, but not sure I can keep this up. I even tried roasting it a bit more, but it didn't change anything. Such a disappointment!

A decent bean, but not my favorite coffee flavor
I purchased "Peru Approcassi Cajamarca" (medium roast) specifically for cold brew but I also used it to brew coffee via French Press, Keurig, and espresso. It's a very strong bean, ultra-bold, but not my favorite flavor of bean. It's nutty and sweet. Almost fruity overtones. Many coffee drinkers I know appreciate this flavor, but I don't. I prefer chocolaty and bitter to nutty and sweet. For me, this coffee is good but not great. I don't see myself ordering it again, but if I did, medium roast is pretty bold / dark as it is. I'm not sure I'd get the dark roast.Because of its strength, if you appreciate this particular coffee flavor, this bean is for you if you like strong coffee flavor.

One great experience and one terrible
I absolutely loved the first batch of beans I bought here. But I recently purchased a second bag of Peru Approcassi Cajamarca in a light roast, and have been severely disappointed. My coffee is super bitter, even using cool water and a French press. That's how I usually make my coffee, and whereas my first batch was delicious and not bitter at all, the second one is so bitter and stale tasting that I've been avoiding drinking it.I don't know if I just received a bad batch or what (my beans are the correct color for a light roast, so it's not that), but I"m reluctant to buy this again after such a bad experience.

Buy the Medium Roast! Excellent customer service
I recommend that you buy the Medium Roast! I ordered 3 lbs of Light Roast. To me it tasted bitter. I called their custoemr service. I spoke to a customer rep and and then the manager. They were both *really* helpful and informative. They confirmed that they roast the coffee on the same day that they ship it. The manager told me that what I called bitter was probably a "green taste" - that this coffee is better at a medium roast. She sent me some Medium Roast. This is wonderful! I also learned to roast the Light Roast so that it is darker using my WhirlyPop popcorn maker. Now I have a deliciously smooth cup of coffee! Very happy! Update: Every single day I thoroughly love my fabulously delicious coffee!
