Great book on spiders
Very well written. Absolutely fascinating stuff on almost every page. Filled with fun facts, fascinating adaptations & behaviors & body parts, etc. If you want to learn more about spiders, it's a good one!

Five Stars.
Still working my way through this but I really love it. I absolutely adore spiders and it's neat to learn more about them and how they work. It's really nice that this book includes so many diagrams/pictures, because this is not an easy read for someone like me and they really help. This is just something I am reading for fun so I am taking it slow to try and actually retain the information I read, but it's really interesting and useful so far.

Great book
This book is full of lots of useful information that is really hard to find all in one place like this. It can get a bit technical at times, but it does its best to make sure that you at least vaguely understand what it is talking about. I would say this is a good textbook for a spider class or just some interesting reading material for someone who has a very deep interest in spiders. Note: THIS IS NOT AN IDENTIFICATION GUIDE. Keep that in mind while making your decision.

love the Biology of Spiders
I have always had a great interest in spiders, but previous to this book I was limited to very secondary space in Insect ID books. What I really want to know is about their anatomy, how do they make their webs, what patterns belong to which spider families, how do they find each other to mate, how do they mate,do they care for their young (I've observed some that appear to), what sensory abilities do they have, what are their habitats. This book goes into great detail about all of these questions & more, & has wonderful diagrams & photographs - I love this book & highly recommend it to anyone who wants an in-depth understanding of spiders.

Quality Texbook!
This is the definitive textbook for arachnology. I learned a lot about the eight-legged creatures that humans irrationally fear. Just be aware, this is a highly scientific book, and the vocabulary runs true to that description.

Great book. It is nice
Great book. It is nice, because it is one of only a few books I've found on spiders that goes into a bit more detail. It is easy to read, with good illustrations. If your into these little dudes, I would check this one out.

Perfect present!
This book was a perfect present for my husband, who read it from cover to cover. He is an internationally known microphotographer of spiders and the book is one of his sources for his research. P.S., you can see his award winning, 2nd place finish in the 2012 Nikon Small World contest, with his picture of baby spiders; and his other, 2012 honorable mention for spider silk tubes.

Authoritative treatise
This is a very authoritative treatise on spiders. I had used the first edition and wanted the second for a class I will be teaching.

Comprehensive, accurate and useful
A very good guide to the biology of spiders, and pretty much the best general spider biology out there (though if anyone knows of a better one, I'd like to hear of it!). I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in spiders, and particularly to arachnophobes. If you study spiders at all you should definitely get this book and it is well worth the money! It is so well researched and draws a wide range of topics together neatly. The author's passion for spiders also shines through, making it enjoyable reading. I don't have anything bad to say about this book.

Biology of Spiders
For those interested in how spiders operate, what drives them, what they are all about this is THE book! I think I learnt more about spiders from previous editions of this book than from any other written source and it set me looking at the spiders around me in a very different way.
