THE OIL: The product itself is outstanding. It immediately makes my beard softer, helping me take some of my more wild whiskers. It also has the perfectly dull shine to it, so it doesn’t leave my beard looking all oily during the day. Especially nice if I apply too much. The smell is amazing but not overpowering. Again nice if you accidentally use too much. Which makes for a perfect blend of functional and forgiving THE SMELL: This where the Traverse City cherry & tobacco really takes the cake. I’ve tried SO many other brands and they all smell like ass! They’re all like the equivalent of axe body spray for your beard; just cheap, obnoxious smelling ‘man scents’. Not this! This where they can charge so much for it. The smell it perfect! It’s classy, not over powering but when she goes in for a hug she’ll be impressed with how good you smell. It’s easy to wear too. Most of the time it’s going be you who has to smell it all day and this is such tolerable scent. Like a good cologne you forget you’re wearing it a couple mins after applying it, but it’s still there subtle informing others you’re a man of taste! To me it smells something akin to a fancy mens lounge at a country club or an athletic club..maybe even a nice cigar lounge (prob where they got the “tobacco” in cherry & tobacco). At first I was opposed to the “cherry” idea, but it won me over. SUMMARY: I recently bought around 8-10 different oil just to give them all the scent test. This and Eighteen21 “Noble OUD” oil are the best smelling, included ones I’ve owned over the years, however the Detroit grooming traverse city is the better product, so it wins overall. 5 stars.

I was introduced to Detroit Grooming Co. "Corktown" grooming oil by a trusted friend. The oil is actually a mix of multiple oils, (see ingredient list) and feels and smells great. I have previously only had experience with beard waxes and pomades, and they always have seemed more work than was really worth going through, and they all tend to leave the beard too shiny and the hair feeling greasy. Even after combing it out, waxes make it obvious you've got product in your beard. Totally whack. Anyways, this oil is easy to administer, by keeping your finger over the opening in the bottle, and dabbing on the oil through the beard. I usually only need three of such applications, and my beard it about 3 inches long. You can then spread the oil my a gentle massage throughout the rest of the beard. A little dab under the nose leaves a pleasant scent for hours. I find that I apply the oil twice a day, and I expect the 1 ounce in the bottle to last a few months. As for the smell, it is heavy on the vanilla, but not overpowering. The tobacco is much like a black and mild cigar, but more refined, like an unburnt high quality pipe tobacco, the kind that reminds you of Grandpa (in a good way, not an old pishy pants geriatric way). The cedarwood is underlying the first two aromas, but is definitely there. Sometimes tobacco is overpowering, but in this blend, it is in equal measure with the vanilla. INGREDIENTS: Sweet Almond Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Safflower Seed Oil, Rice Bean Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Avocado Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, Fragrance and Essential Oil. PROS: + Excellent fragrance - balanced, and inviting + Leaves the hair conditioned, but not shiny or greasy + No scary or overly chemical ingredients + One ounce will last a long time CONS: - The cap is small, metal, and tricky to replace if your fingertips are oily!

This stuff smells amazing 👏🏾

I love the scent of lavender, so I decided to try it and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s not a feminine scent, and it’s not overly lavender. As soon as I opened it and took a whiff I instantly thought of fruity pebbles, which isn’t a bad thing in my opinion, it’s probably my favorite cereal, so it’s a win win, my beard it taken care of and smells great.

Detroit Grooming products are the real deal! From the wash/conditioner to the oils and butters, really top notch quality. I’ve tried countless brands throughout my bearded journey, and these are easily some of the best, with the added accessibility of Amazon to get next day shipping makes it even better. The scents are amazing and not overpowering, but last for several hours which I like. I highly recommend this beard oil as well as every single other scent they sell!

I'm a gray bearded evening shower type. This Belle Isle beard oil is the go to oil for me 4-5 nights weekly out of the shower and before bed. Smell is relaxing and comforting. A great oil that leaves my wirey gray beard feeling great the next day. Slightly pricey but I just love this stuff.

Been using for years

I wanted to wait a few weeks to review this product. I purchased this along with Port Products Conditioning Beard Absolute & Beardbrand Lumber Yard Beard Oil because I am new to beard oil. I grow a beard every year for the past 9 years and it inevitably itches like crazy and gives me "beard-ruff"--as they say. I'm reviewing this product because I loved it out of all the three I ordered: My kids love it. My wife loves it. And I love it. Boosh. It has such a classic, masculine scent: Vanilla, tobacco, cedar. Simple. My wife smells vanilla, and I smell tobacco. And the combination of oils works the best out of all three products. I checked out the company's website and they have tons more scents and products. Give it a shot!

Good quality oil, natural ingredients and smells nice not strong or overpowering but the scent faded from the bottle after almost 6 months

This is my first time using beard oil. It's perfect. Love the smell of it. And so does the wife( that's a bonus) leaves beard soft but not oily. A little bit goes a long way. Shipping was on time.

Smooth and extremely pleasant smell!

Currently using their beard butter (Yorktown) and wanted to try their oil for the longest time. Also wanted to mix and match the scents. The scent is as described, it's a citrusy scent but the lavender takes the edge off from the orange. Feels great in my hands and beard, and I got a whiff even in the afternoon. A little goes a long way. Just be careful when taking it out on your hand, you DON'T want to waste this premium product.
