Fire-Maple FMS-300T Portable Stove Ultra Light, Hiking Stove Titanium for Backpacking Camping Outdoor, ISPO Design Award Gold Winner

Used the backpack stove on our last camping adventure. Worked perfectly with the purchased butane cylinder and pot. Boiled in the water amazingly quick and contributed to great meals in the wild. Highly recommend for size, easy use, and almost no weight!

For the last two years my cook kit has been the ultralight BRS stove and a SnowPeak titanium pot. This combination has been reliable and ultralight, which is important to me as an ultralight backpacker on trips up to 10 days without resupply. The Fire-Maple G3 heat exchanger pot and Hornet 2 stove attracted my attention as a possible way to save on fuel when boiling water for drinks and rehydrating meals. This is a comparison of my old kit and the Fire-Maple combination. I measured the time it took to reach a rolling boil with each system using 500ml of cold tap water with an indoor temperature of 75 degrees, at an elevation of 3300' (I live in the sierra foothills). Weights are actual weights from my digital scale. Time to boiling - Fire-Maple: 76 seconds BRS/SnowPeak: 167 seconds Weights G3 pot and lid 164gm 5.7oz SnowPeak pot and lid 116gm 4.0oz Hornet 2 stove 47gm 1.6oz BRS stove 25gm I was impressed by the difference in boil times, which I attribute to the G3 heat exchanger pot. There is noticeably less heat coming up the sides of the pot with that system and after two boils the 30 locations where the heat exchanger is welded to the pot bottom could be clearly seen as discoloration on the inside bottom of the pot, which is where the heat transfer occurs. One boil with the Fire-Maple system used 7gm of fuel from my half-empty 100gm fuel cannister. Aside from the 2.5oz weight penalty of the Fire-Maple system there are no other drawbacks. The advantages are quicker boiling times and less fuel consumption, I like the insulated handle which also flips up to secure the lid when not in use, and the stove seems sturdy and well built with a larger support area than the BRS. The stove/pot combination is also very stable even with the small 100gm fuel cannister and automatically centers on the pot due to the slots in the heat exchanger. Neither stove will simmer well, they are meant to be used only full blast for boiling water.

Firewall FM16T 1. The case is extremely Protective. The male fitting in the Base ensures Centering and Security. The Case is Bulky but efficient at it's JOB. 2 Care is Needed in accembling of the Case-I found Back Threading added in proper Alignment of the Two Pieces. I suggest Not using a sub because of the Normal Work Conditions-(The Bush) 3. The stove Seems well engineered and Assembled. Not being Pressure Regulated it's left to the user's Knowledge with the Stove to mintain the Proper Gas flow to perform as desired. (The need for speed compared to the Delicacy of the Item being Heated). I found the burner head control extremly GRATIFYING. I am giving these stove FOUR Stares-Only Ignorance & Arrogance can find Perfection. The only 5 Stars I've Found is "I AM" VALUE FOR MONY: Well it all depends, If your RUNING AND GUNING you cook it tell it doesn't Bleed then eat it and other Tim's you don't want your eggs to stick, Yes it's worth the money. After all it will work well in both casses.

Great stove for the price. Super compact and light. Boils water super fast as well.

This small lightweight efficient and powerful little device gives you a great capability to cook just about anywhere. Highly efficient, the photos above showcase about the limit in size on what this thing can handle. It is a 14in wok with a 7in flat bottom and I have cooked 1lb frozen meals from completely frozen to fully cooked in about ten minutes. If you want piping hot it’s about 13min. I have cooked fresh pork chops and frozen egg rolls to restaurant crispy in about the same amount of time. It is an awesome device. 1l water in a fire maple heat exchanger pot is just about 3 min from cold straight from the tap outdoors. You will not be disappointed. Try it for yourself. I would absolutely recommend this device to anyone.

Nice titanium stove and very light for the cooking capacity. Also very simple in practice. The flame adjustment knob is streamlined and does not get caught on brush and grass. Alongside this the attachment point for the gas has an external and internal gasket do it bolsters the valve attachment and provides an extra seal for the gas canister. My Soto wind-master , the epitome of a “Reddit-approved” item that is considered reliable enough for a serious backpacker item advertises the same feature, this stove merely offers it with no mention of it on the package. I really think that this is a great design that undersells what features it has. The pack up is also simple. I tested the item out on the mini iclimb table at night in my yard and because of the simple valve with no wire loop and the loose hinged pot stand, I could easy fold it up and twist the gas line around the stove. Some designs are just to realistic in their design like this one is. Also when used , it blues a very nice rainbow color showing the fire maple logo. I had some questions about the item and customer service got back to me in an hour. The quick service alone makes this a good buy.

This is a quality piece. I’ve got several versions of this design and hours and days of practical use has convinced me the Fire Maple stove is the best quality. Quick easy connection with minimal fuel loss. Durand compact construction. If minimal load and functional performance are required. This will do the job

UPDATE So I got the Fire-Maple Greenpeak stove (listed as the Fire-Maple QingFeng on Amazon for some reason, but says Greenpeak right on the box), and it works SO MUCH BETTER than this piece of crap. Let's compare: 1. The Greenpeak is $20. The FMS-116T is $40. 2. The Greenpeak works great with the Fire-Maple G3 Petrel 600 ml Heat Exchanger pot. The FMS-116T only does if you cram it on there and then good luck getting it off without spilling your boiling water. 3. The Greenpeak supports lock in place. The FMS-116T supports flap around. 4. The Greenpeak weighs 2.99 oz. FMS-116T weighs 1.89 oz. But the Greenpeak comes with an igniter. Granted, a Bic lighter is only 0.76 oz, so combined, the FMS-116T is lighter, but just barely. 5. The Greenpeak comes with a 0.14 oz storage bag. The FMS-116T comes with a laughable 1.44 oz plastic container that not only weighs too much, but makes the stove too bulky. Use a 0.21 oz quart-sized ziplock bag instead. So the total weight of the Greenpeak is 2.99 oz stove + 0.14 oz storage bag = 3.13 oz. The total weight of the FMS-116T is 1.89 oz stove + 0.76 Bic lighter + 0.21 oz ziplock bag = 2.86 oz. Per cooking performance, the Greenpeak stove can boil 77 degree water in the G3 Petrel pot in 1 minute, 27 seconds (the fastest time I've ever tested). But it used 9.44 grams to do it, which is a lot. So I tested it again on medium power, and it only used 5.48 grams in 2 minutes 1 second. The FMS-116T took 6.39 grams to boil 2 cups in 1 minute, 51 seconds. So it's not capable of boiling water as fast, nor is it more efficient. Bottom line, get the Fire-Maple Greenpeak stove over the Fire-Maple FMS-116T, or anything over the FMS-116T, as it just costs too much for what you get, and what you get kinda sucks. ORIGINAL REVIEW I got this to use with the Fire Maple 600ml G3 Petrel pot, but it won't work because the prongs are slightly offset, as well as the thickness of the joints. In addition, gas excapes every time you put it on or take it off a fuel can. And it's not returnable, on top of that. You can find cheaper and/or returnable stoves, so just get one of those.
