The Best!
This neat little book is amazing and I'd like to give it more Stars if I could! It is a fantastic asset for anyone who is either trying to lose weight or, like myself as a recently diagnosed T2 diabetic, who is trying to reduce the sugary carbohydrates in my diet. Each page has 2 great clear coloured photos, each of a plate with 'normal' portions of food, so that you can see immediately and easily the portion size used to calculate the contents. And the contents breakdown includes the actual weight of the food with its total calories, and also the carbohydrates, fats (including saturated fats), protein and fibre - all laid out in a chart around each plate picture. It is very quick and easy to check up on just about anything, since there are over 750 photos of common foods and even drinks too. I keep the book out for easy reference and I've already bought a couple more, for visiting friends who have picked mine up and been unable to stop reading it!

Carbs Counter Review
This little book does what it says on the title. For us blokes it fits into your pocket ok but you are conscious that you are carrying it around with you. Usually I put it into my ruck sack. One negative point to make is that there is no index! An extra 3 or 4 pages would suffice to do this. The larger book of course has one and is easier to use.I am currently saving like mad to get an i-phone or android phone where you can use the Carbs and Cals App. This will be a lot more convenient when going to restaurants and you will not look so much a doughnut looking things up. lolIf you are new to carb counting (being diabetic), I suggest you get this little book along with its big brother.Don't want to brag but I have lost over 2 stone using it.

updated: now include more foods
I have been using the larger format of this book for a while and I often take it with me to cafe's but it was always a bit too big to carry around. When I saw this pocket size version I thought it would be perfect to add to my son's diabetic kit bag. Good to see some more food added to it, a wider selection of meats, vegetables and a new section on eggs and cheese.I still prefer the larger format book for everyday carb counting at home, as it shows more portion sizes, but this small format is great for when you are out and about. If you don't have this book it's worth getting, I find it indispensible. If you do have the older version, it's still worth upgrading to a newer edition especially for the added veg, such as parsnip which we have often but I've never accurately counted before.

Excellent book, but not for me.
This is an excellent guide, recommended by the diabetic clinic. It consists of photos of common foods on normal size plates so that you can judge how big a portion is, and it gives carbs, calories, protein, fat, fibre, and saturated fat so that you know exactly what you are eating. It is well laid out and I understand exactly why the NHS thinks so highly of this book.So why only 3 stars? Well, the full size book has thousands more entries, but to be honest, I use the App on my smartphone. The smartphone is with me when I go shopping or go out to eat. I had intended to keep this book in my handbag and I did for a while, but found I didn't refer to it as much as I should have done. But having said all that, it is an excellent book and would be particularly suitable for people who are a bit nervous of smartphones.

but also has useful information on saturated fat
This is almost the same as its bigger brother (or sister) but smaller. Stating the obvious, there. The larger version, ideal for keeping handy at home, shows three or more plates of each dish, be it a plate of shepherds pie or a slice of cake, giving the relative number of carbohydrates, handy for diabetics, and calories for dieters while this edition slips handily into pockets etc and gives only one plate, but also has useful information on saturated fat, fibre etc. Very handy.

Handy size book to carry around for diabetics
I bought this to use for my 5 year old son who has recently been diagnosed type 1 diabetic. This size is really handy to carry around with you in your bag or your childs bag. It's not like the bigger book where it gives you 4 or so different portion sizes but it's still handy for when out an about. Would recommend for anyone who needs to carb count as accurately as possible.
