Great shavette
I have several straights and shavettes from a variety of manufacturers. I bought this one as a travel razor as I tend to baby my Focus AL Slim and leave it at home . I was delighted to discover that this thing locks up tight like vise- yet will release the blade easily at change time. Very smooth shaver- ofc this is dependent largely on the type/brand of blade you use. Used with shave butter or Tomb45 gel this thing gives a fantastic shave. I actually prefer it to my Parker SRX which I had used as my standard reference until then. I would recommend soaking the wood handle with mineral oil when you first get it and occasionally thereafter- the wood is really nice looking and the oil will help keep water out. 5 stars.

Beautiful Straight Edge for the Price
Bottom Line: Excellent Straight edge especially for the price. I also own the Feather Artist Club SS straight edge but I enjoy this one so much more and it's WAY cheaper than the Feather. Great quality wood handle with a brass screw. Even comes with a carry case and extra blades.Pros: Beautiful wood handle, Brass screw to hold handle onto blade holder.Cons: Comes with 2 sided blades that require you to break in half. This creates bent metal edges that makes it difficult to insert blade into the blade holder...however this doesn't affect the shaving performance. This may be remedied by buying one sided blades. (I haven't tried this yet)Overall a great purchase. I liked this one so much that I purchased another and gave to a friend as a gift.

Blade: good. wood more unfinished than expected but if’n you got some sandpaper it’ll do you fine.
I cannot believe these people made me sand something. The damn scales were misaligned, and weirdly, the holes were straight. So presumably whoever had the drill wasn’t checking the work of the guy operating the cnc. Or maybe it warped, I dunno.Anyway, 15 minutes on a sander, 3 to add finish and problem solved. If I’d have known I’d need to do the worst part of woodworking I’d have made the whole scales and gotten to enjoy myself. The plastic washers are cheapest thinnest plasteek imaginable but easily replaced if they ever wear out in fifty years. And of course this is unfinished. That’s pretty much why I bought it, so I could apply my own finish without having to remove theirs. Added some beeswax wax and citrus oil and it shined up purty like so attractive wood anyway. The shaft of the blade seems solid. The rivets are scratchy but what the fuckever they’ll last. The included blades are probably trash and I have 200 of my own to go through aquired five years ago so uh derby blades are good?Iv never seen a shavette with a different blade holding mechanism that wasn’t out of this price range (x10) or trash and this one holds the blades sturdy so I’m not worried about the shave. The last variable is the 200 pound gorilla operating the tool and I’m pretty sure I won’t kill myself. Overall, fine if you’re okay with making it better, which you should be because this is cheaper than the cost of the sandwich I ate writing this review.

Been using this razor for years.
I got this razor to see if I would enjoy using a straight razor. I do and will never go back to any other kind of blade. I have bought a traditional straight razor but have never got around to switching out to the new one as this razor keeps doing its job. Beyond having to tighten the screw on the handle once or twice a year all you need is to change out the blades as needed. I also don't need all the gear to sharpen the blade as these use replaceable blades giving you the best of both worlds.

This razor is fantastic!! I love the weight on the from end. Feels a lot like a traditional! You just have put the blade to the skin and pretty much guide it while you let it fall. Great product guys!!! Thanks so much the only constructive criticism I have is the screw used to hold the blade to the handle wants to loosen up A LOT, I always have to keep tightening it with my fingernail. I would use a different type of material for this as it could have damaging affects. I am a barber by trade though and use this razor to shave hundreds of people so I also understand it could be the wear and tear. But our goal as professionals is to produce the best product to our customers so that is the reason for the professional feedback

Don't even hesitate. Just get it.
Amazed at the quality of this product. I was not expecting this from such a low price point shavette. The brass screw pivot is of good quality. Silky smooth assembly. Two resin bearings to keep the action smooth and consistent. I took it apart and polished the scales with mineral oil and a tarry cloth to protect the wood. Very pleased with the end result. I am baffled as to why previous reviews complained the scales are too wide. I think they are perfect. Holds a blade rock solid with about 1/16" exposed blade. I would recommend this highly to anyone with an eye for value. Attached my own photo because I don't think the product ad does it justice.

Having the blade area being too wide means you can't use the product at the best angle for an efficient shave
Item was as described. The wood is kind of cheap, and the weight distribution just feels weird. It's a bit too long. Also, the ''blade'' is too wide(by that I mean the 2 metal compartments in which you insert the real blade inbetween). It results in a razor you can't use properly : you use it at a certain angle so the blade slides on your skin, but having the blade area being too wide you can't use the product at the best angle for an efficient shave. The metal rubs against your skin.So far, it's the 2nd ''Sanguine'' straight razor I have purchase. The irony is they both ended up in the trash can.Go with another product. I recommend the Parker or any other cheap product over this.
