She decided then and there she would have a product line by the age of 25. Good gravey, a hair pomade,was the first product she came up with. Requests came flying in for a tube version. So, in 2000 Jamie developed Chicken Poop. She has seven other products in the making. The latest to market is Kill It Dead, a natural spray deodorant. Simone Chickenbone History Dreams and Visions Born and raised in Kansas, thirty year old entrepreneur Jamie Tabor, lives on a hill with her artist/inventor husband, their daughter and two dogs. She is the chick behind Simone Chickenbone. It all started when Jamie was a little girl dreaming up big ideas. One such idea led four year old Jamie around the block soliciting neighbors to purchase "air fresheners" made from hand soap soaked pink facial tissues. She successfully sold one "air freshener for $.05. A cosmetologist by trade and a dreamer at heart, Jamie was introduced to a store called Sephora while in California visiting beauty school buddy, Claudia. This store was lined from floor to ceiling with every imaginable cosmetic and fragrance. Jamie eyed a line of cosmetics with hand drawn flowers in a purple box. It dawned on her that was something she could do. Inspired, Jamie vowed to have her own product line by the age of twenty-five. In 2000 while working in a salon, Jamie developed her first product-a hair pomade. It was a hit. It was pure, simple and high quality. The dream was starting to take form. Early Efforts Soon after the initial success of her hair pomade, requests came flying in for something in a tube. Brain storming, Jamie decided if she were to make a lip balm it would have to be called Chicken Poop, inspired by her grandpa's sense of humor. If one was to complain of dry lips he'd say, "put some chicken poop on your lips so you won't lick 'em." It's not easy selling something called Chicken Poop. The high quality lip balm was a hit with most, but Jamie received a lot of negative feed back on the name. Shop owners would send her out their doors shaking their heads. Despite the risks, Jamie persevered. Her hard work and consistent efforts led to a shop in Chicago carrying Chicken Poop. RR#1 Chicago was Jamie's first big order and has continued to support Simone Chickenbone. Chicken Poop is the shop owner's favorite lip balm and favorite product in her store. Following on this initial success, Jamie soon experienced broadening exposure: from local to national press (including an interview on the Bob and Tom Show) the word was getting out. Greener Poop Simone Chickenbone is doing just that. Their focus on sustainability is an attempt to provide the best outcomes for the human and natural environments both now and into the indefinite future.
