When I purchased my $200.00 IE80's from Sennheiser they arrived with a faulty cable. Womp Womp. The 3.5 mm jack had to be angled correctly in order for them to give full sound. I could have sent them to Sennheiser but I've read the all around service could take months and I would end up with the same type of cable that was faulty right out of the packaging, so I started to look elsewhere for a replacement.All the other cables on amazon for the IE80's had bad reviews and this was the only one with a good one but only a single review. At 20.00 though, I just rolled the dice. It says the shipping time would be 1 to 2 months but it came sooner than 1 month. The shipping time is due to them coming from China but packaging was bubble padded which was very nice. Plugged the drivers in and not only does it work, but in my opinion looks way better than the stock Sennheiser's. The big gold square offset by the silver metal makes it feel and look premium. Along with the copper braided cable it's a win in the looks department. As for wear: the braided part cable seems to be coated in a silky plastic so its super light and comfortable IMO. The only complaint I have is maybe in the future the part that connects to the drivers, while they are a tough seeming plastic, it would have been nice to see the silver metal carry through but hey at 20.00 it's really just nitpicking at that point. I wrote this review for other people who are in my same position and don't want to spend as much as the drivers for a decent cable that actually works (Shade thrown Sennheiser) and are perplexed by other cables reviews and price. If the turn out to be faulty, i'll make sure to update my review but so far very, very happy!

I bought these and have used them now for over 2 years. Working great with moderate use (a few times per week, not hours and hours each day.They are not my favorite cable - they twist up a bit and I have to work to separate the two ends. It's rather bulky, the end is heavy... but they hold up, so I haven't bothered finding anything better for my old IE 80s.

Product worked fine but durability not great/lasted 6 months. Bought this as replacement for standard cable for IE80S, sound quality good but cable coating not very thick so cable broke after 6 months at the earphone end. Also the right angle jack is larger than needed however the jack is SUPER sturdy which is what broke on the OEM cable. Sound quality was good. If you are gentle with your earphones (I always store them in a cloth pouch carefully) maybe your result will be better. I replaced it with a another brand of cable which has the wire coating noticeably thicker (MOKOSE Replacement Upgrade Audio Cable).

Works and does the job

Bought these to replaced the stock cables of my IE80 which is now several years old yet sounds so much better than things that claim to be audiophile standard. These cables look great, actually feel better than the stock cable when wrapped over the ears & didn't degrade the sound quality all for a great price.

The wire that attaches to the headpiece itself ripped within 3 months. I use these headphones a couple of times a week. Heavy users may only last a few weeks!

Prob the best bang for buck replacement cable for the IE80. I have tried most of the ones that Amazon sells; some are good, some are mediocre, but they all break at some point. Construction of this, particularly 3.5mm connector, is solid. Sounds pretty much like the stock cable, a good thing in my eyes, I'm not a big believer in this cable providing additional clarity or soundstage like some might say. It's just a really good cable at a great price IMO.

Bought to replace my 4 year old IE80's cable. Sound quality is same as original cable and seems durable.
