Merrick is owned by nestlé purina now, what are similar (price & ingredients) brands i can try that are not blue buffalo or taste of the wild?

Merrick isn't owned by Purina. This rumor has been circulating for a while now. Purina invested in the company but didn't buy it. The recipes and manufacturing process have not changed - it's still a high-quality, grain-free product that's manufactured in the U.S. No, I don't work for the company - I simply called them to find out whether or not they were owned by Purina because I've been feeding my cats Merrick for years, they like it, and I don't want to change brands.

Does Merrick make any cat kibble without the dicey meal ingredient(s)?

It’s not the “meal” that’s the problem—like another poster said, “meal” is added to give more protein at a lower price than solid, full meat. What you’re right to be concerned about is BY-PRODUCT MEAL, which is not specific. But if it’s “turkey meal” or “salmon meal”, that’s specific enough to not be a concern. If you are feeding your cat (or dog, for that mayter) dry kibble food, you’re 99% likely going to have some sort of “meal” in the food you feed. If you truly don’t like “meal”, even a specifically sourced one, you may have to go with the more pricey options of making your own food from scratch, all wet food (which may still have some sort of meal in it), rehydrated freeze-dries pouches, wet pouches, or the refrigerated stuff at pet stores.

Is this a replacement for whole earth farms? they discontinued whole earth farms and my cats won't eat anything now

??The description states that this food is "fish free". The ingredient list says it contains salmon oil. I need to know which one is accurate, please.

Not sure where you read “fish free”. It is grain free and the primary meat source is poultry. My guys won’t eat fish flavored food & they love this. Isn’t salmon oil a primary source of Omega?
