Surprisingly goes a long way
The product has paste consistency and you can get can multiple servings out of it. It doesn't take much of the paste to stir fry with pork belly bits, diced onions & zucchni, water and some thickener.

You're probably not going to finish the whole packet in one go.
Here's a simple recipe for Jajangmyeon (Serves 2-4):1 1/2 cups pork butt, cut into cubes1 cup onions, diced1 cup potatoes (or zucchini), diced5 Tbsp. black bean paste2 tsp. sugar2 cups water2 Tbsp. cornstarch dissolved in 2-4 Tbsp. of cold water400 g. noodles (I used Udon)Fry the pork until golden brown, set aside. Cook the black bean paste on the same pan with the remaining oil. Add in onions and potatoes and stir fry for 2 minutes. Add the pork and water and boil until the potatoes are fork tender. Season with sugar. Lastly, add the thickener. The flavor is okay. The paste already has some salt in it. I think the real challenge here is balancing the umami. Be careful not to over season so as not to lose the black bean flavor. It's not like the other paste that I have used before where there's little to no adjustment. Sucks for me. For first timers, you'll need getting used to (the taste). Again, to finish the whole packet you'll need to quadruple the recipe, which is a lot. Good luck.

Key ingredient for Jjangmyeon!
You need to fry this to use it as an ingredient for jjangmyeon/jjangbap. Once fried, it keeps in the fridge for 2 weeks. I can usually make two large batches of each with the fried paste!

This Black Bean Paste has hidden sugars.
Chong Jung Won Chinese Black Bean Paste tasted good in the Korean ramen dish I made. The only thing I did not like is how it raised my blood sugar more than candy. I also have sensitive skin and it caused out breaks as if I ate 7 candy bars in one day. The ingredients list carmel but I think it has starches, sugars and other hidden carbs. I tested it by only eating a tablespoon and it accelerated my condition. Be careful if you are diabetic.

Worth it! Buy it
First time making Jjajangmyeon and this sauce came in handy! the bag is a bit on the small side but just a tablespoon was enough for this entire bowl.
