This is seriously dark roast. Imagine a rainy day stuck in a Berkeley cafe with nothing but coffee and pastries.

Peet’s Major Dickason’s Blend is hands down one of the best dark roasts I’ve tried. The beans are fresh and aromatic, and the flavor is rich, bold, and perfectly balanced without being bitter. It has that deep, smooth taste that makes every cup feel like a treat. I love grinding the beans fresh for my morning brew—it really brings out the complexity of the blend. The 18-ounce bag is a good size and lasts a while, especially if you savor it. Packaging is sturdy and keeps the beans fresh. If you enjoy a strong, full-bodied coffee with a smooth finish, this is an excellent choice. I’ll definitely keep this as a staple in my kitchen!

Peet’s Dark Roast Whole Bean Coffee delivers on taste, rich, smooth, and deeply satisfying. The flavor holds up well in a latte and has enough character to still shine through the milk, which I appreciate. I’ve been able to do some decent latte art with it, though nothing spectacular. That said, I wasn’t able to achieve much crema, even after dialing in the grind and pressure. If you're chasing that golden, thick crema for your espresso shots, this might not hit the mark. Still, the taste more than makes up for it, and it’s a solid choice for everyday use. I would buy it again for the flavor alone.

I have been looking for something really dark and rich. This is almost perfect. It is nice and richly flavored without any bitterness. I alternate between this and the French roast (with, IMO, has more of a dark chocolate note). I reserve the right to change my mind, but I do prefer the French roast.
