Q: Will it chop green peppers? I bought another brand that would not cut through the skin of green peppers.

Yes. I have cut apples, peppers, and all sorts of veggies and fruits! Evil hard boiled eggs but you have to press gently or it will smash them. This thing is awesome !

Q: Why does the manual state the chopping blades are not suitable for tomatoes?

Because the blades on the mandolin qare non serrated blades. A non serrated knife does not cut tomatoes smooth, it will basically smush them!

Q: Does this machine also slice tomatoes, cucumbers etc.?

It slices about anything - except it turns tomatoes into mush when you chop them.

Q: Is it dish washer safe?

Yes, I put mine on the top rack of dishwaher and no problems. The user manual states you can wash in dishwasher.
