Extremely Comfortable and Great for All-Day Wear
The Merrell Moab 3 Hiking Shoes are some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve worn. Right out of the box, they required almost no break-in time and felt supportive, stable, and cushioned. Whether you’re walking trails, doing long days on your feet, or just wearing them casually, they stay comfortable from start to finish. The traction is solid, the build quality feels durable, and the fit is true to size. They offer great support without feeling heavy or bulky, which makes them perfect for both hiking and everyday use. If comfort is your top priority, these are an easy recommendation. A great all-around hiking shoe that delivers exactly what it promises.

Good shoes for lawn and garden work
This is the third pair of Moabs that I’ve purchased in the past 4 years, so I’ve had a lot of experience with them. These shoes are cool and comfortable right from start and they have a tread that is substantial enough to allow you to walk along fairly steep inclines without having to worry about slipping. I’ve found that the last couple of pairs lasted about 18 months of hard every day use before the plastic bottoms became separated from the cloth uppers right up at the toe and spreading downward throughout the whole front of the shoe. (caulk and duct tape can solve the problem) Eighteen months of hard use is good enough for me. They will remain waterproof during a light rain but a heavy rain will leave your socks soaked within about ten minutes. Allow about two weeks for delivery.

Hard to Explain How Impressed I Am
Let me start by saying that I am very particular about shoes and boots. I have unusually shaped, wide feet, which means I have the hardest time finding footwear that I not only like but are comfortable. I usually have to put everything I buy on a boot stretcher just so my foot fits in them right (I also have to put new insoles in everything). A lot of the guys at work wear Merrel and I figured I'd give them a shot. When I say these shoes are amazing, comfortable, and look good on my feet, it's no small statement for me. These shoes fit comfortably right out of the box! I can't remember the last brand (that wasn't a flexible/stretchy running shoe) for which I could say that! I highly recommend them to anyone who has problems finding the right shoe for their feet. For reference, I am 5' 10", 210 lbs, and my usual size is 12 W or Extra Wide. I got them in size 12 wide, and I am extremely happy with my purchase!

Solid, Comfortable Hiking Shoes That Get the Job Done
These shoes fit true to size and proved to be durable and comfortable on the trail. While they look a bit bulky and the brown color isn’t exciting, they offer reliable performance and a normal, sturdy weight. I wore them on a full hike up Mt. Humphreys without any discomfort or hot spots—impressive for brand-new footwear. A dependable, no-nonsense pair of hiking shoes. They seem they they will last longer and will made. I didn't have any issues with slipping, they had good tread and gripped well.

My favorite hikers for many years!
I've owned many pairs of Merrell's over the decades, for everything from hunting to walking to hiking. I'm currently on my 3rd or 4th pair of Maob 3's (I lose count - but I DO know I'm 73) that I wear hiking. The Moabs will not wear out, as the pics show, despite daily 3 mile hikes on the rocky, steep trails behind my house here in the Santa Rosa San Jacinto mountains. Hiking can be hot here in the desert, and the Moabs breath well. My wife had been hiking with me in a pair of high-end leather hiking boots, and when I convinced her to try these, she was amazed at the difference. I occasionally refer to her as 'my Imelda Marcos' due to her extreme obsession with shoes. She spent a lot of her time on her feet in business and was constantly on the hunt for something presentable and comfortable, as a closet full of purchases can attest. And while these Moabs won't work for even business casual, on the trails she says they're the best she's had. I can attest that they're comfortable from day one if sized correctly, as I just returned from my first hike in this new pair. My feet are a mess due to osteoarthritis, with crooked toes and other issues, and I wear an 11 W with the broad toe box providing excellent comfort despite the physiological problems. Uphill sections are a breeze, and while downhill sections require more focus and care, especially at my age with two artificial knees, I still pass others who are experiencing worse traction than these Moabs provide. Don't get me wrong, I'm still careful, but the traction is excellent even in scree with proper precaution. I'm attaching pics of the previous 2 pairs along with the new pair. The old ones will become work shoes around the yard - there's nothing wrong with them other than I wear the tread off on the abrasive terrain the dog and I cover. The shoes don't break down, lose stitches, or otherwise degrade appreciably - I just have to renew them every year or two for fresh tread compound. I bought this pair last week and the price just went up - I should've bought two pairs! Oh well...

Comfort and reliability at an affordable price
This shoe is comfortable and meets all of my walking/hiking needs. I just completed a trip where I hiked in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming. I wore these shoes all day for several consecutive days and I couldn't be happier with the performance. Before buying, I watched multiple videos on YouTube rating hiking shoes. The Merrill Moabs were nearly always in the top three reviewed, receiving high marks on build quality and comfort. Reviewers also rated the shoe's performance high. As a non-professional hiker, this was good enough for me. If any of the online reviewers were to ask me, and I know none will, I'd commend them for their reviews. They steered me towards these shoes, and I'm glad they did. While none of the trails I hiked were extreme, I did encounter many rocks/boulders, tree stumps, and obstacles such as fallen trees and other challenges. The Moabs met each challenge. Prior to my trip, I'd been wearing these at my cabin where I go for lengthy walks along paved and unpaved roads. Again, the Moabs met all conditions I experienced with comfort and durability. For my style of walking and hiking, I feel confident that I've purchased an affordable yet reliable shoe. I've used hiking boots for years, but I wanted a shoe that, while it doesn't provide the ankle support of a boot, was still rugged and able to serve me as I expected to be served. The Moab has thus far met all of my expectations, though I will update this review if I experience and issues. But for now, I recommend these to anyone who is a casual walker/hiker similar to me.
