A great masculine scent, a no-sting application with a smooth, almost lotion-like skin-feel. When I decided to try out the Havana aftershave, I was not sure what to expect from the Tobacco Leaf, Cocoa Bean, Patchouli & Vanilla scent that was indicated by the description. I figured that I was either going to love it, or hate it. Like anything with a flavor or a scent, this aftershave is going to be a matter of personal preference. In my case, I absolutely enjoy the scent, and the way the various fragrances mingle together. I find that after the initial flood of nose-filling aroma, the notes of this aftershave can be picked up for now and then for several hours during the day, an absolute treat since most aftershaves disappear a few moments after application. But an aftershave is not just the sum of its aroma ingredients, and in this case, I have found Havana to be an amazingly smooth aftershave. It goes on with no sting, I can feel a difference in my skin - its softer, and less irritated after a shave. When it gets closer to time to replace this aftershave, you can bet your bottom dollar I will be coming back to Barberry Coast to get more, and likely try out some of their other scents, and shave products.

I was a bit skeptical of some of the reviews on this aftershave that one could actually be this good. I have to admit that after receiving a sample order of the balm I wanted to try the splash and placed my order. I am impressed with the soothing sensation on my skin as well as the fragrance. It is definitely a unique scent and a manly blend that smells great, not over powering and mellows quickly after application. Its a shame there is not a cologne or body wash to pair with this as I definitely would use both products too. A bit pricey but really worth it.

Not bad after shave--all natural ingredients. The ingredients list pretty much nails what it will smell like. When you first put it on, the fumes of the after shave waft up and what you smell is smoky----subtle tobacco leaf smell. That evaporates very quickly indeed and what is left is the smell of chocolate (cocoa beans). But it is not an obnoxious chocolate smell--it is instead very soft. If i had to describe it i would say it smells like hot chocolate with the sweetness of cream on top, or perhaps it could be described as a chocolatey coffee type of smell. Not bad, the scent is a little unusual in an after shave but pleasant. As an aftershave it works really well--softens the facial skin and soothes any razor burn you may have. The razor burn stops stinging within a few seconds of splashing this on. It is a superior after shave in that respect. No need to splash on oodles of this stuff--just a little bit will do the trick. The bottle size means the aftershave will last you a long time provided you don't go overboard splashing tons of it on your face. The splash is not oily in the least. In my opinion, any gentleman can wear this after shave and not feel ashamed, it is a masculine scent. This being an after shave, all traces of the scent will disappear within 90 minutes to 2 hours and the only thing you will be left with will be a very smooth and refreshing feel on your face.

UPDATE: Ignore my previous review of this product. It used to have the most wonder cured tobacco smell, but now there is hardly any tobacco scent at all and it fades so quickly it's pointless to use. I contacted the manufacturer directly about this and the response was essentially "sorry about that". Maybe if enough people conveyed that same complaint to them they would eventually take notice and fix their formulation to the way it once was. This is a rare find, a unique masculine product that is well worth the price. I quit smoking many years ago and don't even go in tobacco shops anymore to avoid temptations but I still miss the aroma of a fine cigar and the ethereal atmosphere of a well aged humidor. That's what this aftershave reminds me of, a well loved humidor. It doesn't smell like cigar smoke, just like a fine hand rolled cigar. My only fault I might name is that, like many aftershaves, the scent fades quicker than I would like. The trade off is that it doesn't wreck my sinuses like most aftershaves do. Wonderful scent, very manly, it's a keeper.

Smells great but it is sticky. Does not perform like other high quality aftershave.

I have become a huge fan of Barberry Coast and I find this to be a wonderful addition to their line. Absolutely love the scent. I use the Havana shave soap and after shave balm also and find the scent lingers gently for several hours. I do not find the splash in the least bit oily or sticky. It gives a mild burn and my skin feels terrific. I just got a second bottle to be on hand for when this one is finished. I have had this for half a year.

If you are looking for a manly aftershave, this is not it. A true, manly aftershave is suppose to cause you to feel the burn after applying it, followed by the subsequent relief, toning, and firming. I can't believe I'm reading sissies complaining about "burn" and "scent not lasting." You want scent, you should be looking into fragrances, that's not the purpose of aftershave. A true aftershave causes a burn followed by relief. I fell for the hype, but I'm going back to Aqua Velva and Old Spice--and no, not because of the price, but because it does the job aftershave is for. Nice scent, and fairly long lasting, but that's not what aftershave is for.

So, I think it is way overpriced for just a 4oz bottle. However, I do love these scents and I love that they are all organic and smell so refreshing and natural! I love this line of aftershave on my husband. I can’t help but to get close to him when he puts it on... yum!! Too bad they don’t throw out coupons every now and again.
